One of the most important moments in Girista Dairy Livestock is the reproductive management, as in a chessboard, an error can cause damage that will reflect on the continuity of the selection and consequently economic failure!

We should never promote natural breeding, A.I. or IVF at random, without studies, without consulting the results of the Progenie ABCGIL/EMBRAPA test, summary, genomics and other tools.

Thanks to contemporary technologies, we can cross-reference data and in this way, observing the genetic characteristics of each sire, of each bull, result in increasingly superior products, all in addition to the "feeling" of the mating partner, which in no way ceases to be essential!

EVERYTHING IS DAIRY GIR?

(REFLECTION)

Dairy Gir is the extraordinary tool to promote the genetic improvement of commercial herds and enhance their milk production.
We know that there are animals that produce milk in the Dairy GIR bias and even in the Dual Aptitude GIR, which have never suffered "selection pressure" to be a milk producer, but that does not qualify them as a "DIRTY GIR"!

The definition of this dairy bias is not simplistic, much less easy, in fact it is of such complexity that it deserves to be discussed by all selectors and breeders and entities linked to Gir Leiteiro.

A Mother can produce milk, but who can guarantee that she will pass on this majestic ability to her offspring???????

Serious lactations are officially measured, data collected by progeny tests and finally the very important GENOMA, which is the hereditary information of an organism that is contained in its DNA that will send us the answer, obviously added to the phenotype of the matrix.

Genomic sorting is a sensational tool offered by modern science to the sorter.

GENOMICS is here to stay, it's a worldwide trend, an indispensable tool, it doesn't replace other tools, but it increases a lot!

But not to stray from the topic: "HOW MANY GIR ANIMALS CAN REALLY BE CONSIDERED DAIRY?" It is a question that needs to be answered, interpreted and assimilated by the creator.

Another nuance within this question is: WHAT LACTATION DO WE EXPECT FROM A DARY TO BE QUALIFIED AS A DAIRY GIR AND THEN BE MULTIPLIED?

I see a large list of sows undergoing IVF, and so their genetics are perpetuated, but are they the great mothers we need?

These are questions that the world awaits, and the answer will be with the always necessary endorsement of "SCIENCE"!

FAMILIES IN THE SELECTION OF THE MILK GIR AND THE EVOLUTION OF THE BREED

Wanderly da Costa Pereira, who has one of the best writings on the Dairy Gir in Brazil, when referring to the importance of the formation of families in the herds of selection of the breed, said: "The selection of the Dairy Gir practiced in the conformation recommended by Carlos Roberto Caldeira Brant – “through great mothers, who generate great daughters and are grandmothers of great granddaughters, forming families in constant evolution, with the youngest usually surpassing the oldest!”

However, this selection work is not an easy task, in Brazil the work of genetic improvement in Gir Leiteiro is carried out by ABCGIL (Brazilian Association of Breeders of Gir Leiteiro) in partnership with the state company EMBRAPA, in the genetic evaluation of bulls that participate in the program of Progeny test.

In the aforementioned Progeny test, dams from the so-called "Collaborating Farms" are inseminated from the registered bulls, generating daughters that, milked in the first calving, will outline which are the most outstanding. Complementarily, in 2018, the genomic evaluation was implemented at Dairy Gir, and Embrapa explains: "In August 2018, the first genomic summary of young females of the Dairy Gir breed was published.

The implementation of genomics in the selection process improved the accuracy of the genetic value estimates, especially for young animals, allowing the reduction of the generation interval and the acceleration of the genetic progress of the breed."

With all these evaluation tools, it is possible for the milk gyr selectors to obtain very high productive quality herds.

Gir Leiteiro is part of the economic activity belonging to the primary sector of the nations of the world 🌎 tropical. Originating in India, its capacity for milk production was developed in Brazil, and from there it spread to several nations.

In addition to milk production, through pure herds and or its more traditional cross, Girolando, Dairy Gir generates income and jobs.

Finally, Dairy Gir is present in several places, and given its figure, there is no room for hunger or misery!

THE INDIAN GIRIST BROTHERS! 🇧🇷🇮🇳

Expozebu, with all the inherent decadence of Fairs, Agricultural Exhibitions throughout Brazil, still maintains an unmistakable shine, an opportunity for good business due to auctions, shopping malls and a moment for internationals to interact with Brazilian producers, and from there numerous partnerships emerge in the called "ear foot"!

The visit made by authorities in the dairy sector in India two weeks ago has already been widely publicized.

The delegation came once again to confirm the technical conditions for importing the genetics of Dairy Gir, Zebu for milk, developed by Brazilians in recent decades, with great success.

It seems unbelievable, the country where Zebu came from resorting to genetic improvement of our Brazil!!!

Dairy Gir is really the Brazilian Treasure!!!

In a few years, other zebu breeds with a dairy vocation such as Guzerá and Sindhi may also be in the sights of countries in the tropical world.

In the low line, the mother MARJORY FIV DO BASA is one of the main donors of Fazendas do Basa in Zona da Mata Mineira.

In Evandro Guimarães' own definition:

"Marjory IVF from Basa, an example of genetic improvement and genomic evolution There are pedigrees that justify – with the names stamped on them – the great productive performance carried out in the corrals and the high genomic potential assessed by science.

This is one of the concepts of genealogical consistency for milk production and one of the ways to explain the genetic preponderance of cows that breed lines and are family builders.
