*THE PERSONA OF JULIUS DEBRAH*

His magical calmness, noble servant, strategic and tactical leadership and humility established the most cordial and undying relationship between him and his boss, John Mahama, even throughout these periods of seven years in opposition.

His servantship to John Mahama is above extraordinary.

Such values is what NDC needs now to backup the footsteps and softings the hearts of the undecided middle class, youth, and classless voters to consider the NDC as the ultimate choice.

PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY THE AWUTU SENYA EAST COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER OF THE NDC MR DELALI SEWOEKPOR

Ladies and Gentlemen,
the Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East and Minister for Fisheries & Acquaculture Development, Honorable Mavis Hawa Koomson, is reported to have described the youth in Kasoa as lazy. She made this unguarded comment on Friday, 12th August 2022, during an interview she granted to Adom TV on its morning flagship show, Badwam. We in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) find this distasteful statement mindlessly reckless, disrespectful and a pompous display of power. We therefore condemn such conduct without reserve and call on the honourable MP and Minister to render an unqualified apology to the youth and people of Kasoa.

It is said that if you come to equity you must come with clean hands. As such, it is only proper to ask of the minister what the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia led government has done to ameliorate the dire living conditions of the youth of Kasoa? Kasoa is yet to have its share of the failed one-district-one-factory promise. Kasoa, like all constituencies nationwide, has nothing to show for the non-existent one-constituency-one-million-dollars scam; meanwhile the once supportive District Assembly Common Fund has become moribund. Electricity supply in Kasoa is erratic, water expansion is at an all-time slow pace and projects that were once steadily ongoing before this government won power have been halted. In fact, it will be a great service to the people of Kasoa if the Honorable MP can point to a single major government project that engages the youth of Kasoa in any meaningful job.

We can help her with a few of such examples under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

In any case, what is the Honorable Mavis Hawa Koomson's personal contribution to the development of Kasoa as MP and Minister? Not only did she display shallow knowledge of her ministry during her vetting, she has also been clueless on how to leverage on the resources and knowledge at her ministry to bring development to Kasoa, talk less of any significant achievement nationwide. Sadly, she rather finds it befitting of her office to describe the people who gave her power as lazy.

Such recklessness can only fester under an inept regime. Madam Hawa Koomson is emboldened by the fact that she got away with brandishing a gun at her constituents and still went ahead to win the elections of 2020. That may be the voice of the people but it cannot be said to be the voice of God to be so disparaging of the very people who collectively gave her their power to act on their behalf. The MP must be reminded that she is merely a servant of the people of Kasoa and so such lousiness will not be condoned.

Ghana is currently in a crisis. All three reputable international rating agencies have downgraded our economy to junk status. The Ghana Statistical Service put July inflation at 31.7%, although some experts peg it beyond 60%. Unemployment is an existential threat. Government is defaulting on statutory payments and has woefully failed to honour its financial obligations for all its flagship programmes. We're once more at the IMF, this time with a very weak record and in urgent need of rescue. The free fall of the cedi against the dollar has indeed exposed the fundamentals of the economy. Prices of goods never cease to increase. And frighteningly, in fact, terribly frighteningly, a food crisis is said to be imminent in the coming year owing to lack of supply of farming inputs and the high cost of farming.

In the light of this appalling state, the least the youth of Kasoa and people of Ghana expect is arrogance from duty bearers . We demand respect, candour and compassion. We expect to see a government and its functionaries fully at work to steer us out of this abyss they've sunk us into. In fact, we demand an apology from the people in government for such crass incompetence never before seen in Ghana's history.

The Honorable Mavis Hawa Koomson is probably either dishonest or pathetically insensitive. How could she possibly be so audacious to cast such an insult at the youth of her constituency? Probably, the largesse of power has blinded her to the daily struggles of the people in her own backyard. Despite the harsh state of the economy, the teeming youth of Kasoa are those hawking on the streets, rendering barbering and hairdressing services, washing bowls in chop bars, riding Uber cars, with some joining in at the close of the 8 to 5 job, pulling handcarts, offloading goods from trucks, and doing just about anything, be it decent or demeaning, to make ends meet. Many are those who are still in dire need of opportunities to put their youthful energies to good use. The least such people deserve is opportunity not oppression.

Maybe, Madam Hawa Koomson is a classic example of the many needless ministers of President Akufo-Addo's government whose floppiness the president hails as 'outstanding'. Nothing can be more heartbreaking and insulting.

The president can choose to shut his ears to the cries for a reshuffle, to root out needless and demonstrably incompetent and arrogant ministers like Madam Hawa Koomson, but his intransegience will not stop us from calling out such uncouth conduct.

The 'lazy youth' of Kasoa shall wait to receive the 'hardworking' and 'competent' Honorable Mavis Hawa Koomson when she comes prostrating for their votes in 2024.

*NDC Parliamentary Caucus Statement on the Nana Addo - Serwaa Broni Scandal*
The NDC Caucus in Parliament has become aware of very scandalous allegations contained in an interview granted Mr. Ekow Kevin Taylor by Madam Evelyn Serwaa Broni on Easter Sunday the 17th of April, 2022. These allegations, if proven to be true, raise grave charges of abuse of office, human right violations and conduct which bring the high office of President of Ghana into disrepute.

The NDC Caucus has consequently requested and obtained a copy of the full interview in issue for further study, transcription and legal analysis. The caucus will very soon convey to Ghanaians the actions to be taken on the basis of the outcome of the ongoing legal analysis of the matter.

The caucus remains committed to holding public officers accountable to the high standards set by our constitution.

Signed,

Haruna Iddrisu
Minority Leader
Parliament of Ghana

*GODFRED DAME'S COMMENTS ON ANNULLING BUEM PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION RESULTS WAS PREMATURE, ABSURD AND INSENSITIVE*

It's not surprising such unfounded and baseless comment came from the Attorney General at this moment because we are all aware of their struggle to make up their number in parliament for the smooth passage of the obnoxious E- Levy. The Attorney General out of hypocrisy, mischief and calculated attempt to reduce the numerical strength of the minority group in Parliament was the real motive behind making such a damning, mischievous and premature statement on the floor of Parliament .

The Attorney General ought to have known better than any ordinary person that, the Buem Constituency Election was free, fair and legitimate.

The illegality was rather orchestrated by the Electoral Commission on the good people of SALL to delibrately disenfranchised them from getting a representative in the 8th parliament. The attitude of the EC has led to an infringement on the political right of the good people of SALL . This, in fact is a grievous and unforgivable sin by the EC. It was this manipulation and orchestration that gave birth to the then Parliamentary candidate of the NPP in Hohoe Constituency, Mr Peter Amewu to become MP for the Hohoe Constituency.

If the Attorney General is indeed calling for the annulment of any Parliamentary Election, then that should be Hohoe Constituency Parliamentary Election because the EC on 30th December organized a press conference and told the whole world that, the SALL communities would be voting under their mother Constituency which is in Hohoe.Have the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lipke and Lolobi voted under their mother Constituency as they were promised? A deceitful electoral Commission led by a deceitful woman Jean Mensah.

This therefore meant that, the EC has erred when it issued a press statement on 6th December 2020 directing the people of SALL not to vote under their mother Constituency (Hohoe), which has till date created a constitutional crisis and a skewed Democracy with the highest impunity.

We still emphasis that, it was the infringement of the voting rights of more than 30,000 people of SALL that made Peter Amewu today as MP for Hohoe. The Attorney General should have therefore called for a fresh polls in the Hohoe Constituency and not that of Buem.
Again, it will be very patriotic on the part of the Attorney General to initiate a legal action against Jean Mensah and her cohorts for causing financial loss to the state and for denying the people of SALL a voice in the 8th Parliament of Ghana should the ruling government consider running fresh election in Hohoe Constituency.

In conclusion, we want to reiterate that, the Attorney General has erred in his pronouncement and should therefore render an apology to the people of Buem Constituency and especially the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu Likpe and Lolobi for denying them their political rights of voting and electing a representative in the 8th parliament.

*THE PEOPLE OF SALL DESERVE A REPRESENTATION IN THE 8TH PARLIAMENT AND MUST NOT BE REPRESENTED BY PRESIDENT*

We are completely saddened, dispirited, disullutioned and disappointed at the utterances and comments made by one Mr Richard Ahiagbah, a deputy director of research in the Office of the president at the Jubilee House.
Richard Ahiagbah who was speaking on the Tuesday, January 11, 2022, edition of the Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV said. '' the people of the Santrokofi, Akpafu,Likpe Lolobi(SALL) have no need to worry about representation because they are represented by their president.

As a deputy director of research, Richard Ahiagbah ought to have known that, with the creation of the new district by the ministry of local government, the EC was under obligation to create a new constituency to give the people a representation in the 8th parliament, which has not been the case in SALL.
The 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, Chapter seven(7) talks about the representation of the people.
Again, Article (42) of the same constitution has explicitly talked about the right to vote and has captured it beautifully as '' every citizen of Ghana of eighteen years of age or above and of sound mind has the right to vote and is entitled to be registered as a voter for the purpose of public election.
Also, Article 47 clause (1) has also emphasized the need for the creation of constituencies for the purpose of election of members of Parliament as the Electoral Commission may prescribe and each constituency to have a representative in Parliament.

It's therefore regrettable, sinful contemptuous and scandalous for a person like Richard Ahiagbah to dastardly make such reprehensible comments he sought to have made on a National TV because he should have known better than any individual at the office of the president.

We are optimistic that, the EC has been compromised by a deliberate agenda to disenfranchise the people of SALL and that has breach their constitutional right to representation in Parliament.

Again, Richard Ahiagbah should have known that, this has amounted to a constitutional crisis and a skewed democracy because we have some people in the country who are not represented in the 8th parliament.

The NPP, Electoral Commission and Naan Akuffo Addo government must render an apology to the people of SALL for such gerrymandering that gave birth to Peter Amewu as MP for the Hohoe Constituency. It must forever be on record that, the people of SALL were once disenfranchised through a press release on 6th December 2020 by the Ghana's Electoral Commission led by wicked Jean Mensah.

This is a grievous sin and must not be forgiven because it was calculated and well executed to satisfy the then parliamentary candidate of NPP, Mr Peter Awemu who eventually benefitted from the orchestrated agenda n manipulation of the EC and the NPP.

It's a known fact that, with the current hung parliament in place, the government of Akuffo Addo is at a disadvantage if Guan Constituency is created because we all know that, it's a strong hold of the largest opposition NDC party and government is deliberately not ready to create the Constituency any time soon.

In conclusion, we want to emphasis that, Akuffo Addo and NPP government have failed the people of this country in diverse ways amongst which is a constitutional crisis which has left the good people of SALL without a representation in Parliament.
We are therefore calling on the president, the Electoral Commission and Richard Ahiagbah to render an apology to the good people of this country especially the four(4) traditional areas namely Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi respectively.
