Shopian Administration To Act Tough Against Illegal Extraction From Nallahs
Shopian, Dec, 27:-
The District Magistrate (DM), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today Chaired a meeting to devise a strategy for effective enforcement of measures to check the menace of illegal extraction of minerals in the district.
The meeting discussed various preventive measures to control and curb the illegal extraction of Minerals including sand and bajri from nallahs across the district.
On the occasion, DM said that in view of complaints being received by the Administration against illegal material extraction in the district, the Administration is going to act tough against the violators.
DM directed the concerned officers to ensure that no illegal mineral extraction activities are carried out in the district and stressed for Zero tolerance and said that coordinated efforts are required to curb the menace of illegal extraction of minerals in the district.
DM gave directions to Police and other concerned departments to give full cooperation and support the Geology and Mining Departments in controlling illegal extraction of minerals from nallahs and stressed for inter-departmental coordination to curb this menace for ever.
DM said that field work by all stakeholders is must to make preventive measures much more successful.
DM said that the developmental works should not suffer and in this regard the extraction of legal mining shall be allowed that too after proper permission from the authorities.
DM stressed for proper checking at all vulnerable sites to curb and stop the illegal mining.
DM directed SDM, Zainapora to monitor and ensure that no illegal extraction takes place anywhere and that the concerned Tehsidars, Police and other concerned officers are informed well before the legal extraction of mining.
DM added that the need of the hour is to monitor the process strictly and brought the violators under book to stop the illegal mining.

*2 Technicians Sustain Burn Injuries in Oxygen Plant Leakage in GMC Baramulla*
Srinagar, Dec 27 (GNS): Two persons sustained burn injuries in an Oxygen plant leakage incident at Government Medical College Baramulla on Monday morning, officials said.
They told GNS that two technicians identified as Asif Mushtaq Bhat, 25, son of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat resident of Delina Baramulla and Mohammad Saleem Khan, 30, son of Ghulam Nabi Khan resident of Kandli Bagh Baramulla suffered facial injuries in the incident.
Both the injured were taken to a Srinagar hospital for treatment, the official added. (GNS)

District Sheep Husbandry Department Shopian today distributed chaff cutters among 10 beneficiaries of the District.
These Chaff Cutters were provided to beneficiaries by the Sheep Husbandry Department Shopian under National livestock Mission.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani distributed the Chaff Cutters among the beneficiaries here at Mini Secretariate Arhama Shopian.
Chief Sheep Husbandry officer, Shopian, Dr. Moin-Ul-Haq and other officers/officials were also present on the occasion.

DDC Shopian listens to public issues
Shopian, Dec, 22:-
District Administration Shopian, under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today listened to scores of public issues at a Block Diwas programme held here at Gagron Shopian.
At the outset, the local people of all surrounding Panchayats participated in the programme and highlighted their problems and developmental issues faced by them.
They demanded Uninturrupted power supply, Portable drinking water facility and irrigation issues, Diary Units, sanction of IAY cases, replacement of old electric poles, up-gradation of transformer and availability of suitable quantity of ration at various CA&PD depos.
A score of issues of Water, Power, road, transport, ration, health were resolved on the spot after face to face deliberation with District Development Members, PRIs, District officers, while for several other issues the DDC set a timeline for their resolution.
A review of action taken on previous issues raised by local people was also taken by the DDC.
Instructions were also passed to the Departmental Functionaries for visiting their respective jurisdictions and listening to the grievances of the general public, besides holding awareness programmes, highlighting various individual beneficiary schemes across the Panchayats.
District Development Members, Panchs Sarpanchs, PRIs, besides district officers and large number of people fr,om the adjoining areas were present.
