*Sonawari B'pora Farmers Demand Desilting of Wasikhan Nallah for Irrigation*

Sumbal, 22 June: The Residents of Nowgam, Zalpora, Inderkote, and other villages in the Sonawari area of Bandipora district have demanded immediate desilting of the Wasikhan Nallah, citing water shortages affecting their paddy fields.

While speaking to the media, farmers in the area expressed their difficulties due to the Nallah not being cleaned, which has resulted in water scarcity in their paddy fields.

They have been facing this issue since 2008 and are demanding that the Irrigation Department take immediate action to resolve it.
Farmers have also urged the Deputy Commissioner and concerned department to intervene and connect electricity from Sumbal colony to the Wasikhan Pump Station to ensure uninterrupted water supply for irrigation.

Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Irrigation Sumbal informed that seasonal employees have already been deployed for cleaning the Nallah and assured further assistance as necessary.

However, he also said that the permanent solution lies in connecting electricity supply from Sumbal colony to the Wasikhan Pump Station.
