One of the most popular and widely identified music bands in India witnessed hundreds of spectators from all walks of life. To mark CRY’s award-winning campaign. All the 5 members of the band – Rahul Ram, Amit Kilam, Nikhil Rao, Himanshu Joshi, and Tuheen Chakraborty – entered the stage wearing yellow socks as a gesture of solidarity for the rights of every child. For the Indian Ocean, it was a full house and the cheerful audience expressed their eagerness to witness the mesmerizing performance of the band. The band presented multiple lyrics vocally and instrumentally. The performance commenced with a beautiful composition “Nadiyan Hain Hum Behane Do...” and dedicated it to the youngsters. Knowing the pulse of the listeners, they select their compositions and improvise during their presentation. The sound, their chief medium, they keep in control even when on the higher octave. Being a rock band, their dramatic body language gets in tune involuntarily with the strong rhythm and the flow of their notes – now getting almost still, now stretching, bending, swaying and what not.
Among the other compositions which they presented were Aaja Ve Mahi..., Tu Kisi Rail Si Guzarti hai..., Jhini Re... and many more. The band also presented their very new composition which they have named “Jaadu Maya...”. The saga didn’t end there, the band presented a Hindi-Kashmiri composition as well. Following the opening numbers where dashes of the folk and the were on friendly terms, the sounds intermittently grew as soft as they could be in rock music and relative inbuilt silences with sounds as of and lightfoot taps were rousingly received.
Kandisa, the ancient Christian prayer seeking to evoke divinity, the band’s signature number. The founder member of the band Rahul Ram narrated an interesting tale behind this very popular composition. As the performance was drawing to a close, the band members urged the guests to wear the yellow socks provided to them to become . On their request guests not only wore yellow socks in quirky ways but also posted their photographs on various platforms of social media.
