*International Day of Biological Diversity Celebrated by Kalaroos Coy of 41 RR*
1. Biological Diversity Day, observed on May 22nd each year, serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of biodiversity to life on Earth. This day, formally known as the International Day for Biological Diversity, aims to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. One of the primary goals of Biological Diversity Day is to educate the public and policymakers about the benefits of biodiversity and the urgent need to protect it. Through various activities and campaigns, this day helps to bring the importance of biodiversity to the forefront of public consciousness, encouraging more people to take action in their daily lives and support conservation efforts.
2. In an endeavour to achieve maximum learning value and inculcate core principles with respect to preservation of biodiversity, Kalaroos Coy of 41 RR organised a *trek* for young minds of Kalaroos followed by a *cleanliness drive*, a *sapling plantation drive* and finally an *awareness campaign* by organising a *movie screening* and a *lecture as well as interaction of children with Kalaroos Coy Cdr*. This elaborate event was finally culminated with a tea organised for the participating kids and staff involved.
3. The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation from approximately *220 kids, six teachers and four officials from the First Department*. Arrangements, efforts as well as initiative of 41 RR was appreciated by everyone and they thanked the Battalion for organising such events. Assurance was also provided for conduct of many such events in the future as well.

*Heaps of Garbage Pile Up at Naseem Bagh Met Road, Sopore, Causing Inconvenience to Residents*
Sopore, 11 May: The Residents of Naseem Bagh in Sopore town area in North Kashmir's Baramulla district are fuming over uncollected garbage and the foul smell emanating from it, which has been causing inconvenience to the people living in the area.
The heaps of garbage piling up on Met Road have become a major concern for residents.
According to the residents, the stench from the garbage dump is unbearable and has made their lives difficult. They claim to have brought up the issue with the Municipal Council a number of times, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
"The foul odour emanating from the garbage is causing problems for people," residents told news agency Kashmir Life. "We brought up the issue a number of times to the concerned Municipality, however, they gave no hearing to our pleas," they said.
Admitting the problem, ADC Sopore said that they will solve the issue as soon as possible.
