Ellora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India.
HISTORY:
It is one of the largest rock-cut Hindu temple cave complexes in the world, featuring Hinduism in particular and few Buddhist and Jain monuments with Artwork dating from the 600–1000 CE period.
GEOGRAPHY:
These 34 monasteries and temples, extending over more than 2 km, were dug side by side in the wall of a high basalt cliff, not far from Aurangabad, in Maharashtra.

Harishchandragad is a hill fort in the Ahmednagar district of India. Its history is linked with that of Malshej Ghat, kothale village and it has played a major role in guarding and controlling the surrounding region.
HISTORY:
The fort originally dates back to the 6th century during the rule of Kalchuri dynasty. The citadel was built during this era and various caves probably have been carved out in the 11th century AD.
the fort was under the control of Mughals and Marathas captured it in 1747 AD.
GEOGRAPHY:
At a distance of 8 km from Khireshwar, 50 km from Bhandardara, 166 km from Pune & 218 km from Mumbai, Harishchandragad is a historical hill fort situated in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. The height of the fort is 1,424 meters.

The Villagers refer to it as a "Shivkalin Vihir",( Shivkalin- Era of Chhatrapati Shivaji , Vihir- 'Well' in marathi)
It is built in basalt rock and has 18 steps that takes you to the water-level. The steps end at the entrance of the well carved intricately.
There is a idol of the deity Ganesh carved on the top of the door along with his guards besides with one of them holding a sword.

HISTORY:

The Kondana Caves are located in the small village of Kondana.
Inside the caves, there are adjoining rooms, each has beautiful walls carrying sculptures, and images of vihara, chaitya, and stupa
HISTORY:
This cave group has 16 Buddhist caves.
The caves were excavated in 1st century B.C. The construction on wooden pattern is notable.
It is believed that these caves were used by monks for meditation.

The Lal Mahal (Red Palace) of Pune is one of the most famous monuments located in Pune. In the year 1630 AD, Shivaji’s Father Shahaji Bhosale, established the Lal Mahal for his wife Jijabai and son. Chhatrapati Shivaji stayed here for several years until he captured his first fort.
HISTORY:
Historically, the Lal Mahal is famous for an encounter between Shivaji and Shaista Khan where Shivaji cut off the latter’s fingers when he was trying to escape from the window of the Lal Mahal.
