📢 Hi everyone: we have an exciting announcement! 📢
Design Beku has been operating full time since April, and it's been a valuable and enriching learning experience to work with so many of you, on a variety of projects. This period has been useful for us, the core team, to also understand what DB can be, and could be, and what we might need to have in place to make these possibilities a reality. However, as we are a collective, we would like to hear from all of you how you would like to see DB grow, and how you imagine both your and the role of others in its future. To this end, we are having our first ever **Town Hall** on the 20th of September, 11 am - 1 pm IST .
Varun & Micah have worked hard to put together an initial document to guide this conversation, and we would love it if you could take a look at it beforehand, and offer any comments, suggestions, ideas that you would like to see discussed further.

Workshop about NRC and foreigners tribunals on Saturday, 15th of August, 12 - 2

We're hosting a small workshop on Saturday from 12 noon -2 pm in collaboration with Parichay (https://www.parichay.org.in/), a lawyer collective running a collaborative project providing legal aid to those filing appeals against their exclusion from the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

They're working with us to create illustrations and content on demystifying the foreigners tribunal process and this is what we'll be focusing on during the workshop. There will be an introductory session by one of the lawyers introducing us to the context, followed by a brainstorming session during which we'll be imagining different ways in which we can represent the process so it is accessible and comprehensible.

Since we'll be conducting this online, we want to cap numbers at 15, so please do get in touch if you'd like to participate.

We're so pleased to share a children's book created by Jahnavi Koganti and Saili Gupte that explains the current situation for children in an enjoyable and accessible way!

This fun narrative, brought to you by the wise and wonderful Ajji, can help children quickly navigate the precautions they can take during this crisis, while adjusting to this new normal and finding new hobbies. The authors believe that children can be change makers with the ability to understand situations if explained clearly, and can participate by taking responsibility for themselves and their loved ones.

While we've been working on our Covid-19 collateral (you can find all the content we've made here and on our website under the "Covid-19 response" tab) we've been working on some other projects too!

I'm very glad to unveil A Is For Another: A Dictionary Of AI: a website we designed and built for Maya Indira Ganesh around her work exploring what AI can tell us about the human experience. We drew on imaginaries of how knowledge is designed to be found on the internet, and experimented with how we could do this differently - to echo Maya's curation that is "meandering, serendipitous, non-linear." Have a play, and tell us what you think.
