Samba, Nov 16 : Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh, Police has unearthed big pilferage of essential commodity, seized two tankers of Indane Gas Agency & forty one big gas cylinders and arrested two accused red-handed while extracting gas from tankers using pipes and filling the same in the commercial gas cylinders to be sold at the price lower than market rates.
A case FIR No. 274/2023 u/s 3/7 EC Act, 406, 409, 120-B, 285, 413 IPC has been registered at Police Station Samba through Police Post Supwal and investigation is underway.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ravi Kumar s/o Girdhari Lal r/o Motlian Kalan Utterbehni, tehsil Vijaypur, district Samba and Happy Manyal s/o Ashok Kumar r/o Diani, tehsil and district Samba. However, two drivers of the tankers managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of darkness. They too have been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest them. Some more arrests are likely in this serious case of criminal conspiracy for pilferage of essential commodity, criminal breach of trust, act of habitual receiving of pilferaged property having knowledge that the same was pilferaged and rash act with combustible matter endangering human lives.
Initial investigation revealed that the same pilferage of gas from Indane gas tankers had been committed for the last over four months at the same place during midnight hours. The Indane gas tankers coming from Punjab side to Indane LPG Bottling Plant Bari Brahmana, Samba used to come to this particular place i.e Chhajwal Barian, Supwal Samba at odd night hours for pilferage purpose.

No alternative to an elected Govt in J&K: Manjit Singh
Says delay in holding PRI, ULB and Legislative Assembly Elections unacceptable
VIJAYPUR: Asserting that there is no alternative to an elected Govt, the Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister S. Manjit Singh today demanded restoration of democratic system in Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing his concern over the growing public issues, the Former Minister said the delay in holding Panchayati Raj, Urban Local Body and Assembly Elections in J&K is unacceptable.
“The elections were delayed without citing concrete reasons. On the ground, the people want the elections to be held so that the public representatives can ensure all round development and employment for the unemployed youth,” said Manjit Singh while addressing a monthly meeting of Apni Party leaders and workers in Vijaypur.
The Apni Party meeting discussed existing political scenarios and developmental issues being faced by the people.
While addressing the gathering, the Former Minister appreciated the Apni Party leaders for their hard work and strengthening the roots of the Party in Samba District.
He expressed concern over the delay in PRI, ULB and Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir that has generated a feeling of alienation among the masses in both the Regions.
“The authorities are taking decisions unilaterally by not consulting the public representatives. These decisions have often led to resentment because of anti-people policies,” he said, while citing the Jammu-Pathankot highway which is in shabby condition from Vijaypur to Bari Brahmana.
The highway poses a serious threat to the commuters and locals because the work is in progress in an unplanned and unscientific manner that needs to be reviewed and the administration must investigate the concerns of the people regarding the ongoing working of the highway by NHAI.
