Shopian, Mar 9 : In a major crackdown against 'illegal extraction of minerals , Shopian police Saturday seized one JCb and one Tipper at sub division zainapora of south Kashmir's Shopian district.

To combat illegal mining, executed a series of raids targeting unauthorized excavation of minor minerals in the district Police official while taking with Shopian Times.

The accused drivers have been identified as Abid Ahmad Itoo s/o Mohd Afzal Itoo R/o Cheermarg and one tipper bearing registration number JK03C4669 driven by Mukhter Ahmad thoker R/o Awneera who were indulged in illegal extraction of minerals in the JD of Police station zainapora.

However both jcb and tipper were immediately handed over to the officials of Geologial and mining department from seizure and about one lakh rupees challan was given to the vehicles on spot Police official.

"We will take stringent action against the people involved in such activities," the official added.

DC Shopian reviews arrangements for smooth conduct of JKSSB exam

SHOPIAN, JANUARY 22: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz L*l Haseeb today chaired a meeting of Head of institutions, Centre Superintendents and concerned Officers at Conference Hall of DC Office Shopian here to finalize the preparations of OMR based written examination for the post of Finance Accounts Assistant (FAA) of JKSSB, scheduled to be held on 28th of January in the district.

During the meeting, it was informed that around 4148 candidates are expected to appear in the written examination at 13 centers across the District. For the smooth, free and fair conduct of examinations 13 Magistrates, Observers, Superintendents each and 1 Dy.Superintendent have been deployed in the district.

Deliberations in the meeting focused on roles, responsibilities and coordination of manpower, meticulous arrangement of basic facilities, especially heating arrangements keeping in view the cold conditions, elaborate security arrangements, logistics for transportation, safekeeping of examination materials and efficient traffic management.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that fair and transparent exams are the top most priority of the district administration.

The DC directed to ensure the installation of CCTVs in control rooms of the educational institutions of the district where these SSB exams are going to be conducted along with videography of exams.

The meeting was apprised that the police department was directed to ensure adequate deployment of Police personnel for es**rt of examination material and for proper frisking.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; Principal, IMGDC Shopian, Prof. Mohammad Shafiq; Chief Education Officer, Shopain, Mohammad Shabir; Administrative Officer, Tehsildars, Superintendents, Head of institutions and other Concerned were present.

Training for conduct of SSB FAA Examination imparted at GDC Shopian

SHOPIAN, JANUARY 22: To facilitate smooth conduct of the upcoming J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB) examination for Finance Accounts Assistant (FAA) Recruitment, the District Administration Shopian today organised a training programme for supervisory staff, invigilatory staff and heads of institutions in the Auditorium Hall of GDC, Shopian.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz briefed about the roles and responsibilities of officers involved in conducting the JKSSB examination.

Training was imparted by Member, JKSSB Yar Ali Khan. He threw light on the rules and regulations to be adopted during examination and the detailed procedure for its conduct.

Principal, GDC, Shopian, Prof. Mohammad Shafiq, ASP, Shopian, Naresh Singh and other concerned officers were present.

The training covered all aspects of the OMR-based objective-type written examination in order to acquaint the staff with necessary information and practice of conducting the examination smoothly.

Later, a question and answer session was held and queries regarding the JKSSB examination were also raised and satisfactorily resolved by the team of JKSSB.

Today during naka checking, Police Shopian apprehended a Drug peddler namely Showkat Ahmad Naikoo S/O Ab Jabbar Naikoo
R/O Saidpora Bala Shopian near Narwaw- Rawalpora crossing who was traveling in his Pvt Vehicle THAR bearing registration No. HP52D 5551. A contraband Brown Sugar like substance covered in Polythene bag weighing about 748 gms (worth 1.05 Crore rupees black market)was recovered from his possession while his personal search. In this regard Case FIR No. 11/2024 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Shopian and investigation set into motion.

Police busts drug module in Anantnag; three arrested
Huge consignment of contraband substances recovered

January 12: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police busted drug module by arresting three members of a family in Anantnag and recovered huge consignment of contraband/ psychotropic substance from their possession.

Police in Anantnag received an information through reliable sources that a family comprising (Father, Mother and Son) namely Mohd Ramzan Ganai son of Gh Rasool Ganie, Shahzada Akhter wife of Mohd Ramzan Ganie and Zubair Ramzan Ganai son of Mohd Ramzan Ganie, residents of Seer Hamdan Mattan under a well-planned criminal conspiracy are continuously indulging in illegal trade of illicit alcohol as well as of cannabis charas powder. Reliable sources also revealed that the trio has concealed huge quantity of illicit alcohol as well as illicit cannabis charas powder in specially made hideouts in their residential house, Swift Dzire Car, Baleno car and Motor Cycle.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 04/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Mattan and investigation was initiated.

Accordingly, a search team comprising of Anantnag Police and Executive Magistrate concerned raided the spot. During search of the house, police party recovered about 9.27 Kgs of Charas powder and 867 Bottles of illicit alcohol which was seized on spot. All three accused persons were arrested. Vehicles Swift Dzire, Baleno car, KTM Motorcycle and cash amount of Rs. 13325 (believed to be proceeds of narcotics) was seized. Further investigation in the instant case is going on.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.

Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan a musical festival organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with District Administration Shopian where hundreds of locals participated and enjoyed different musical segments.

Anchor /// 12 sector RR under the ageis of Chinar Corps in collaboration with District Administration Shopian organised a day long musical festival at Batpora Stadium Shopian in which hundreds of locals participated.

The musical festival which is named as *Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan* has witnessed a huge gathering in the past also, this is an event which is celebrated every year to welcome Chillai Kalan( 40 days of harsh winter) which commences from 21st of December.

The variety of musical songs and cultural events attracted people who thoroughly enjoyed them amid chill breeze at Batpora Stadium Shopian.

The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Shopian Fazlul Haseeb and Senior Superintendent of Police Tanushree IPS who were the chief guest on the occasion.

People in large numbers joined the show with great spirit and enthusiasm . The singers presented cultural and folk songs of Kashmir valley.

The achievers in various fields of education, sports, women empowerment, youth empowerment and social activism were felicitated by the DC which motivated the awaam.

One of the participants was found saying that he really enjoyed coming to the event also the songs and other presentation were mesmerizing which will remain in his heart for times to come. He also applauded the Indian Army for seamlessly organising the event.
