Kashmiri Doctor's Moon Land Purchase Exposed as Invalid, Deemed a Useless Scam
Kashmiri Doctor's Moon Land Purchase Exposed as Invalid, Deemed a Useless Scam
Faraz Ashraf
Srinagar, Dec 22: A recent sensational news story circulating in Kashmir, claiming that a Kashmiri doctor had purportedly purchased land on the moon, has been debunked by a Srinagar-based news agency. The report sheds light on the lack of validity and substance in such assertions, given the well-established fact that the moon is not available for private ownership.
The news agency underscores that since the 1960s, a collaborative global effort, involving nations like the US and Russia, aimed to explore the moon. This effort led to the Outer Space Treaty under the United Nations in 1967, unequivocally declaring the moon as a shared resource with equal rights for all nations, emphasizing that the moon belongs to none.
Despite these international agreements, an individual named Dennis Hope from the US made baseless claims in 1980 that the moon belonged to him. After receiving no response to a letter he wrote to the UN asserting his ownership, Hope initiated a self-styled lunar space registry company.
This registry purportedly sells lunar land plots for approximately 3000 Indian Rupees each. However, the United Nations Outer Space Treaty dismisses such claims, categorizing them as invalid and constituting a scam.
Individuals participating in this so-called registry receive digital certificates with no real value, as the UN has never endorsed or acknowledged any private ownership of lunar land.
The cautionary note comes as a reminder to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to be wary of falling for misleading claims and transactions related to lunar land ownership, emphasizing the need for vigilance in the face of dubious schemes.
Historic Jama Masjid Reopens for Friday Prayers Amid Controversy Over Mirwaiz's Absence
Srinagar, December 22 — In a significant development in Srinagar, the venerable Jama Masjid opened its doors for Friday prayers today after a hiatus of ten weeks. The joyous occasion, however, was overshadowed by the conspicuous absence of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, who was barred from leading the prayers for the 11th consecutive week.
Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar expressed its dissatisfaction with the administration's decision to impede Mirwaiz from fulfilling his religious duties. In a released statement, the Anjuman disclosed that authorities provided no reasons for the restrictions imposed on the prominent religious leader.
This development raises serious concerns for Anjuman Auqaf and the local populace, viewing Mirwaiz's continued detention on Fridays as an arbitrary action by the administration. The faithful, who travel from across the valley to partake in the Friday prayers at the historic Jama Masjid, have been left disheartened by the mosque's closure or the absence of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir.
Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Anjuman Auqaf underscored that Mirwaiz's detention for the 11th consecutive Friday is not only a matter of concern for them but also deeply affects the emotions and sentiments of the people. Thousands who gather to hear the sermon of their beloved leader find themselves disappointed by the recurring restrictions imposed by the authorities.
As the situation continues to unfold, the community and religious leaders are closely monitoring the developments, anticipating a resolution that would enable the faithful to practice their religious obligations without hindrance. The controversy surrounding Mirwaiz's absence adds a layer of complexity to the reopening of the historic Jama Masjid, a place of significant religious and cultural importance in Srinagar.
Pakistan is trying to revive terrorism in the Rajouri-Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir
Pakistan is trying to revive terrorism in the Rajouri-Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir as around 25-30 Pakistani terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the forest areas of the region, defence sources said on Friday.
The sources said the plan to revive terrorist activities in the area is part of a greater game plan by Pakistan and China to pressurise the Indian Army to remove troops from the Ladakh sector and redeploy forces in this area.
“There is a larger game plan by the Pakistan-China nexus to not allow India to ease out of the Jammu and Kashmir sector and deploy troops on the China border, especially in the Ladakh sector, where the PLA and Indian forces have been in a standoff for the last three years now,” they said.

Outrage Erupts as Kashmiri Nursing Students Face Brutal Lathi Charge and Confinement Over Unjust Decision
Faraz Ashraf
Punjab, 14 September 2023: In a shocking turn of events, nursing students hailing from Kashmir found themselves at the receiving end of a brutal lathi charge and subsequent confinement within a university building, all for daring to raise their voices against an unjust decision. The injuries sustained by these young scholars are not only severe but have also ignited a firestorm of criticism, as such actions are deemed utterly unacceptable.
For the past ten days, nursing students at Desh Bhagat University (DBU) in Punjab have been staging protests against the arbitrary decision made by university administrators. This decision involved the transfer of their admissions to a college that lacks the necessary approvals from the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the Punjab Nursing Registration Council (PNRC).
The fate of these students now hangs precariously in the balance. On the fateful day, while peacefully voicing their dissent, female students were met with a forceful lathi charge and subsequent confinement within a university building, a move seen as an attempt to silence their protest against this unjust decision.
Desh Bhagat University, in a unilateral move, transferred approximately 70 Kashmiri students who were enrolled in various paramedical courses to Sardar Lal Singh Memorial College. This controversial decision has been unfolding since last year when around 500 students from Jammu and Kashmir pursuing various paramedical courses at Desh Bhagat University found themselves caught in a situation beyond their control.
Crucially, Sardar Lal Singh Memorial College, despite its affiliation with DBU Punjab, lacks recognition from the Indian Nursing Council, a violation of established norms and a precarious position for these young scholars concerning their education and future careers. Moreover, DBU admitted a staggering 140 students, significan
