"Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji-led Government has taken several initiatives to achieve the ambitious goal of doubling farm income, bringing structural reforms in agriculture and boosting investment in the agriculture and food sector.

The agriculture sector in India is expected to generate better momentum in the next few years due to increased investment in agricultural infrastructures such as irrigation facilities, warehousing and cold storage.

The Indian food industry is also poised for huge growth, increasing its contribution to the world food trade every year due to its immense potential for value addition, particularly within the food processing industry. Indian food and grocery market is the world’s sixth-largest, with retail contributing 70% of the sales.

I feel very privileged and honoured to stand in front of you and acknowledge the achievements of enterprises working in the agricultural and food processing sector.

The ‘AGRI FOOD – EMPOWERING INDIA AWARDS 2021’ has been conceptualized to recognize organizations and companies involved in the agriculture, and food processing industry which have contributed to enhancing agriculture productivity; introducing innovative process management & new financing mechanisms; providing missing links in the agri-food value chain & value-added warehousing and supply chain services; creating jobs and eventually, contributing to agricultural growth in India and empowerment of the farmers.

The award scheme also honours excellence in hygiene & food safety, food processing technology, manufacturing and food technology research.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank our knowledge partners NIFTEM, Sonepat; NIAM, Jaipur; IIMR - ICAR, Hyderabad; and CFMTTI, Budni for providing their guidance and support to recognize excellence in the agriculture and food processing sector. They helped develop various categories and evaluation methodology for the purpose.

Today, we are here to announce the winners and also to applaud the victory of our commendable award recipients who through their achievements and growth have empowered the nation.
