In a major boost to ‘Make in India’, Airbus Helicopters has announced that it is partnering with the Tata Group to establish a Final Assembly Line (FAL) for helicopters in the country. The FAL will produce Airbus’ best-selling H125 helicopter from its civil range for India and export to some of the neighbouring countries.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) commenced its ‘first oil production’ from the deep-water KG-DWN 98/2 Block in the Krishna Godavari (KG) basin off the Bay of Bengal on the Kakinada coast on January 7.

The block is approximately 25 km from the coastline. The peak production of the 98/2 field is expected to be around 45,000 barrels of oil per day and over 10 Million Metric Standard Cubic Metres per Day (MMSCMD) of gas.

Executive Director and Asset Manager (ONGC-Kakinada) Ratnesh Kumar has said; “The 98/2 block is likely to help increase the ONGC’s total oil production by 11% and natural gas production by 15%.”

With an average three rapes a day, Delhi is still among the most unsafe metropolitan city for women in the country, according to data shared by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), with 14,158 crimes against women reported in 2022. This figure was a slight increase from the 13,982 crimes against women reported in 2021.

Byju Raveendran, the founder of ed-tech platform Byju’s, has pledged his home and those owned by his family members to raise funds for paying salaries to his employees, Bloomberg reported on Monday. The properties pledged include two houses owned by his family and an under-construction villa in Bengaluru as a collateral to borrow $12 million ( ₹100.07 crore). Once generated, the money would help Raveendran pay 15,000 employees in Think and Learn Private, the company owning the platform. Last month, the company reported its audited results for 2022 where it said operating losses fell 6% to 24 billion rupees ($287.95 million) for its core online education business for the year ended March 31, 2022.

, the Warren Buffet-owned investment major, has sold its entire stake in One97 Communications Ltd, the parent company of fintech major Paytm, in a large block deal and with a loss of more than ₹500 crore, according to exchange data on Friday.

Berkshire Hathaway sold 1.56 crore shares or 2.5% of equity worth nearly ₹1,370 crore at a share price of ₹877.29.
Buffett had picked up a 2.6% stake in Paytm in 2018, investing nearly ₹2,200 crore ($300 million), valuing the Vijay Shekhar Sharma-led fintech at $10–12 billion. During the Paytm IPO, Berkshire Hathaway sold shares worth Rs 220 crore.

The World Health Organisation has sought more details from China after reports of a sudden spike of respiratory disease among the children since mid-October. The mysterious outbreak has affected the Northern part of China with mostly children being worst-affected.

This is the first cessation since Israel launched an air and ground assault on the Gaza Strip after Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack. At least 50 women and children among the estimated 240 people held hostage in Gaza will be released over that period, the Israeli government said in a statement. Hamas said on Telegram that the deal includes the release of 150 Palestinian women and teenagers from Israeli prisons, as well as “intensifying the entry of trucks for humanitarian, relief, medical and fuel aid into all areas of the Gaza Strip.” Qatar, which has been mediating the talks, confirmed the deal for a “humanitarian pause,” adding that the starting time of the pause will be announced within the next 24 hours.
