It's burger o'clock! Binge eating all the yumminess in this beautiful Friday evening. Isn't this beautiful? I am sorry but yes I am obsessed with my burgers.

Made the patty at home and the garlic mayonnaise in the burger is homemade too! Sometimes you should give yourself a pat on back. Good job, iti! 😛

What's gonna be your weekend special?

Tried my hands on one of my favourite Bengali dishes : 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒛𝒂𝒍𝒂

This mughlai chicken dish is what you can save for those weekend cheat meals. Chicken Rezala requires cooking your chicken delicately to get that rich texture and perfect colour. Slow cooking is the secret to this dish.
It is quintessentially a chicken dish in white gravy with exotic spices and beautiful aromas. Traditionally only dry red chillies are used in this dish but I like my food to be a little spicy hence I took the liberty of adding green chillies. The gravy is made with poppy seeds and cashew nuts. I have added Char Magaz but that is totally optional. Also it's best to add white pepper powder to avoid alterations in the colour of the gravy.
This dish usually pairs best with Rumali roti but I equally enjoyed it with plain rice.

Kolkata Food Haul -3 : Flurys
I am pretty sure people from Kolkata would have visited this magnificent place atleast once. If not, hurry up! Okay to be honest this place was totally unplanned even though I always had it on my mind. We had a tight schedule for our trip and this wasn't really on our list. But you see there's always room( and time) for desserts.
We went to this place after Christmas hence it still had those Christmas decorations and vibes. My eyes were stuck on the peculiarly ornate chandeliers. The beautiful aroma of the confectionaries and the amazing decor is something I won't forget. This gourmet bakery is definitely a paradise for people with sweet tooth.
Also, this place is famous for it's iconic English breakfast. I will be trying it for the next time for sure. Also on that note, a friend of mine suggested me to try chicken patty from this place. So do let me know if you have been to this place and have any other suggestions.
In the frame:

1. Belgium mocha with cream
2. Hot chocolate with whipped cream
3. I really can't remember the name 🙈, all I remember this was a Christmas special addition to the menu. If anybody knows please drop it in the comments.

Kolkata Food Haul - 2 : Peter Cat
I have always had a list of places I must visit when I would be in Kolkata and Peter Cat was amongst the top places. This place is one of the legendary restaurants of Kolkata and is well known for their Chelo Kababs and sizzlers.
First of all, this place is immensely crowded on holidays and weekends. Hence it is suggested to reach this place early to avoid long queues. We had planned to visit this place on 24th evening and couldn't make it even after waiting for around 1.5hrs. We finally got lucky on the subsequent weekend as we had made sure to drop in early.
The chelo Kebab was obviously the sought after dish. The kebabs were cooked in rare spices blended with Persian Herbs and served on a bed of scented rice with a dallop of butter and poached egg. This age-old speciality has a perfect combination of flavours and spices and a must try if you visit this place.
Next we tried chicken steak sizzler as we had a heard a lot that these people have set the benchmark for sizzlers. But honestly we've had way better sizzlers and this sizzler was not worth the hype.
So we won't really recommend to try it.
Next we tried something we had never tried before. The chicken irani kebabs. These were AMAZING and I don't know how to exactly describe them. But long story short these are definitely worth trying.
We have reserved the worst for the last. We had ordered cream of chicken soup and honestly we hated it. Sorry Peter-Cat lovers but this is the bitter truth. Others, spare yourself and just do not order it.

Overall I would say the place a over hyped and to play safe it's best to order chelo kebabs and other tandoor specials.
Food: 3/5
Ambience: 3/5
Service:4/5
Value for money: 2/5
Overall : 3/5
Recommended? Yes, only for chelo Kebab and tandoori specials

I know it's been long since I've connected with you guys. How are you all doing? I honestly missed you all and this space. I could finally figure out a balance between my work and blogging. In fact it would be great if you could share with me how you manage your work and blogging because I clearly need that.

Sharing my love with you all again. Made the cult favourite jhinge alu poshto and sorshe Mach. Nothing pleases a bengali more than these two dishes paired up with a heap of steamed rice. Let me know which dish is your favourite and close to your heart.

I love trying new dishes and cuisines but when it comes to making a happy meal I am a true Bengali at heart. Nothing makes me more happy than a home cooked Bengali meal. A humble poshto, a flavourful dal and a lip smacking macher jhol are enough to give any Bengali a nostalgia run.
Though this time we couldn't celebrate the auspicious Durga Puja the way we do but there was no compromise when it comes to food. Hence I decided to make a happy meal and this was my take on Durga Puja.

In the frame
1. Rice with ghee
2. Moong Dal
3. Jhinge Aloo Poshto
4. Macher jhol ar maach bhaja
5. Boiled bitter gourd
6. Mishti doi

Making this Sunday amazing with Odia style chicken curry!

This is a dish totally fit for your hush-free weekend cooking. This Odia dish tastes best with desi murg and the subtle variations in the cooking method gives it a distinct taste. This dish has incomplete with big chunks of potatoes because we odias have a soft corner for aloo. You can enjoy it with plain rice or just phulkas, taste great anyway.

This is a dish I grew up with. While I was cooking this dish it reminded of the amazing smell wafting through our kitchen when my father would be cooking our cult food on Sunday afternoons. Our Sundays typically would be my father leaving the house early, carrying his bag to get all the vegetables from the mandi and buy the best desi chicken. Once he is back he would nicely marinate the chicken with all the spices and cook a beautiful Odia style chicken curry. And then our luxurious lunch would be followed by an hour long nap.

I really miss those carefree days. So today i decided to have one such lovely Sunday for myself and give sometime to myself.

Settting up the evening mood! 🌅

Since most of us working from home we think we are able to give a lot of time to our family. Well in reality, NO! This whole work from home and working for home has become a fiasco. While we might be at the ease of choosing our favourite corner of the home that does not necessarily mean we can have it. Sometimes that network is weak, sometimes you are too confused about the place or sometimes your family shoos you away to the other room coz your meetings might be too noisy! So all we need is to find some family time to keep ourselves sane. For us evenings are special because that's when we sit together and have a good time. So to make our evening special today made these chana dal pakoras to team up with our teas.

Subha Mahalaya 🙏

In the frame - Besan Ladoo
Credits

Mahalaya, which marks one of the phases of ‘Pitru Paksha’, is also known as ‘Mahalaya Amavasya’ as it falls on a no moon day.

The word ‘Mahalaya’ is formed by two words ‘Maha’ or grand and ‘Alaya’ meaning abode. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Goddess Durga comes to her parental house along with Karthik, Ganesha, Lakshmi and Saraswati and stays there for five days, before leaving for Lord Shiva’s house on the last day, ‘Dasami’.

In Odisha people wake up early morning to offer a ritualistic welcome to the Goddess by offering prayers and making sweets, pithas and kheer. People usually visit temples on this day but since temples are closed due to COVID-19 people are performing the rituals at home.
These besan ladoos have been made my mother and sister. Our heartiest wishes to everyone on the occasion of holy Mahalaya.

Menstruation in India is a taboo. People run away from discussions involving anything related to menstrual hygiene or menstrual cycle. I am happy to receive this packet of sanitary pads from which pushed me to talk about this cultural taboo in our society.

In the frame : Rash - free pads
From :
Available on :
Price : INR 259 for pack of 10

I first thought being a food blogger is it the right place to talk about this. Then I realised I am a woman first and then a blogger and so are many of my co-bloggers. And learning about menstrual management is equally important for both women and men. It is not something to be hidden and infact needs to be discussed. It is the time a woman needs utmost care and support. She might get cramps, feel bloated , have mood swings or feel tired. Some females can experience severe pains and feel restless. It is important she takes care of her hygiene along with all these problems during this time.

If you are woman this product is definitely worth a try. And if you have a female friend/ partner/sister or for that matter any relationship with a female do take care of her and suggest her buying this product if you find the review helpful.

𝙑𝙚𝙜 𝘿𝙪𝙢 𝘽𝙞𝙧𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙞
Let me start with the veg biryani first. Well being a non vegetarian I refused to accept veg Biryani as "Biryani". But I finally think someone has challenged my belief and made me realise that veg Biryani stands a chance too. The Biryani was made with beautiful aromatic long grain basmati rice and had non greasy texture. I was amazed by the variety of veggies the biryani was loaded with. It had green peas, carrot, potatoes, paneer, mushrooms and what not! Also I loved how they served the Biryani in earthen pots. All the vegetarians in Bhubaneswar I highly recommend trying it.
Comes with raita and salan

Half Handi - INR 130

This thali had
1. Matar paneer
2. Baigan Bharta
3. Plain rice
4. Parathas (2)
I pretty much liked this thali. To my surprise baigan bharta was a delight. Matar paneer was a hit too. I would call it a total 'paisa vasool' meal!

𝘼𝙡𝙪 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙖 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙗𝙤
This combo had:
1. Alu Paratha
2. Curd
3. Pickle
4. Salad & onions
I would say it was a pretty decent combo although I would have liked the paratha to be more stuffed. Also I love my food to be a little spicy so I felt that punch to be missing.

𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧 65 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙆𝙖𝙙𝙝𝙞 𝙋𝙖𝙠𝙤𝙙𝙖
I saved the best for the last. Paneer 65 and Kadhi Pakoda were bomb. These were sent as tasters and I absolutely loved them.

Honestly I was a little skeptical about the vegetarian dishes. But as much I was surprised, I loved the food and also the hospitality. Check their menu for many more lip smacking dishes and combos.

"May your coffee kick in before reality does" I read this quote in some cafe and I totally stick to it. For me the only way to deal with all the things happening around is a nice cup of coffee. Thankyou for sending over these amazing coffees.

In the frame:
1. Filter coffee decoction ( makes 20 cups)
2. Hazelnut coffee decoction ( makes 5 cups )
From :

I am a filter coffee fan since I first tried it in Andhra Pradesh. But I have been missing having it since I do not have the required apparatus for the preparation. This is where comes to rescue. Since these are decoctions there is no need to wait for long hours. All we need to do is add 2-3 spoons of decoction to hot milk and sugar (10ml of decoction to 90ml milk to be precise) and you are done! The coffee has lovely aroma and soothing taste. Overall I enjoyed relaxing with my cup coffee.

Since they are in liquid form they are easy to use and can be used for multi purposes. I am planning to bake a cake using hazelnut coffee. Will be sharing it soon :)

This was sent by their dessert section . I am going to give them a hundred bonus point for this cookie. Though it was a little broken when it reached us, we really did not mind it because it was "LEGEN...WAIT FOR IT....DARY".

I highly recommend trying their cookies and I can guarantee you will fall in love with it. The cookies were finished in SECONDS even after having a plateful of pilaf. And yes thankyou so much Aashra for sending the beautiful orchids along with the cookies. I still have them on my work station :)

𝙂𝙤𝙨𝙝𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞:

Mutton mandi is a traditional meat and rice dish from Middle East and is fondly eaten in UAE, Yemen and Saudi Arabia. It's precise origin is Yemen but now is eaten all over Asia including Pakistan and India.

Coming to its taste it had a distinct flavour. It was subtle and barely spicey. The meat was tender and succulent. This dish has a beautiful aroma with rice being a little moist.

Accompanying it were -
🔸Arabic style tomato chutney
🔸Salan
🔸Raita

I would recommend this pilaf to people who love their food to be mild and flavourful.

These people are just killing it! Serving some unique and lovely dishes they are definitely winning the hearts of the foodies of Bhubaneswar.

For all the Chinese food lovers in Bhubaneswar here's a great place for you!
Thankyou for sending over these amazing dishes.

In the frame :
1. Chicken Chilli Garlic Noodles
2. Devil's Chicken
3. Egg fried rice
4. Mushroom Manchurian

From : Silver Stick
Location : Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar
Available on : Swiggy and Zomato

Amongst all the dishes I would highly recommend Devil's Chicken. It was nor too spicy nor too bland. Just the perfect taste with juicy pieces of chicken. Also the gravy wasn't too runny. I like my Chinese main dishes to be semi gravy and that's how they had served it

The egg fried and mushroom manchurian were pretty decent. I can definitely order them again.

Chicken Chilli Garlic Noodles was a bit on the spicier side. People like me who love spicy food are gonna love it. But if you are not, I would rather suggest you to look for other options.

I was totally impressed by the quantity. Each dish can easily serve 2-3 people.

Taste : 4.5/5

This my mom's signature dish and she has mastered the art of cooking amazing pointed gourd dishes. I don't need to jot down the benefits of coconut oil because I am sure everyone knows it by now. We have tried this virgin coconut oil for various purposes already and here is our feedback:

🥥 Me and my sister have used for 'champi' .We both have different hair types: mine are curly and dry and she has straight and smooth hair. The oil suited well for both the hair types with no side effects

🥥As a base for moisturizing dry skin and heels. My sister has a dry skin and she now uses this oil before sleeping. The oil is light and blends in easily. Her skin skin dries out less frequently now with no signs of itchiness or rashes.

🥥 Fir face massage and make up removal. Just a few drops and a good 5-10 min massage helps to keep the blood circulation and keep it glowing.

🥥 My mother used it as a cooking oil today.

✨ Chicken Korma ✨
It's time to loosen up the belts and indulge in this delectable Indian dish. It's super creamy, thick and rich. Anyone who has tried this dish will instantly fall in love with it.
Honestly I never grew up with Chicken korma. This is in fact my first try at making this dish and it was worth all the efforts. The chicken pieces are gently simmered in the creamy gravy and layered with various spices. The Korma is traditionally cooked on low heat for around an hour until the meat is tender and the sauce turns into a rich and creamy glaze.
I have to confess this is NOT a light dish. This is dish is luxurious, rich and a calorie bomb so I have decided to reserve it for very, very special occasions.

2. Orange and Ginger - 60% Dark Chocolate ( INR 300 )
3. Kashmiri Chilli and Lime -60% Dark Chocolate (INR 300)

I honestly had never tasted these flavours before. Such a lovely twist to regular chocolates. I know many people who are not big fans of chocolates. I am sure this is just the right choice for them. Amongst the three I would highly recommend Orange and ginger.

All the chocolates are 100% vegan , made with single origin Cocoa and premium quality ingredients. Also the regular sugar is substituted with healthy coconut sugar.

There is this another thing which I loved about this brand. They believe in Organic and fair trade i.e. they work directly with the farmers and pay higher prices for better quality organic cocoa beans.

Not just amazing range of chocolates they have other products like Chocolate spread, nut spread and some chocolatier's range as well.

Head to their profile/website and checkout their amazing range of products.

It has been a roller coaster ride since our first day in .delight. It wasn't really easy for us to create contents and work in tandem being at different locations. Sometimes we agreed on few things and sometimes argued over silly ones. But nevertheless it has been an interesting journey. We both have very different approach and methods of working but we realised this is what has made our work better. We only wish to keep contributing some great work and grow with our digital family.
