We often see many people, especially contributing to the welfare of society. There is a very famous Gurbani line,
"Nanak Naam Chardikla
Tere Bhane Sarbat Da Bhala"
which means that the name of Parmatma or God brings well-being, happiness, and a positive spirit, and with your blessings, Lord may everyone in the world prosper and be in peace.
The team came to know about the person who actually believes in 'Sarbat Da Bhala'. Also known as "Savior Singh", Dr. Surinder Pal Singh is a well-known Dubai-based business tycoon and a globally recognized philanthropist.

This life-changing moment came into his life in 2010 when 17 Indians were given the death penalty for a group fight that led to the death of a man in , . When he came to know about the news, at first he was not ready to accept the idea of 17 people being hanged for a single person’s death. So he thought to fight their case and he won but had to give $2.2 million from his pocket.

After this incident, he decided to form an organization called 'Sarbat Da Bhala Trust' in 2011 and decided to donate 98% of his income to social welfare. The organization works in rescuing girls from the Gulf region, bring dead bodies home, and help specially-abled children, women, and underprivileged people by educating and providing financial support to them. The organization also runs training centers in low-income regions for stitching, electronics, beauticians, and computer courses.

Dr. Surinder Pal Singh's Life Motto is,
”Do all good, by all means, to all the people, as long as you can”

We salute our Savior Singh for all the contributions he is doing to the welfare of society. The nation always feels proud of you and thank you for supporting our underprivileged children financially by providing quality education.

started teaching personally to the children and was a very good teacher. He even started schools to make education available to the downtrodden and the underprivileged of society at that time. This step by Guru Angad Dev Ji helped secure the development and growth of Sikhism. Guru Angad Dev Ji also stood for a casteless and classless society, in which no one was superior to the other and no one, through greed or selfishness, could be allowed to encroach upon the rights of others. Guru Angad Dev said, “He creates, O Nanak; He establishes the various creatures. How can anyone be called bad?. There is One Lord and Master of all; He watches over all and assigns all to their tasks. Some have less, and some have more; no one is allowed to leave empty.” – Guru Angad Dev Ji.
Guru Angad Dev confirms that “those who meditate on the Eternal Lord, who is fearless and is All Pervasive, are not only themselves emancipated, but they rescue many others from this net of illusion.”

Today marks the of our second guru, Guru Angad Dev Ji who taught us many things. On this day, we as a united team of promise to keep you all updated with the and connect you all with more such relevant series. May god bless us all with lots of happiness, prosperity, and success in life ahead.

'Bhai Lehna Ji - The Second Guru' (Part 2)

As soon as became the guru, he invented the present form of the Gurmukhi script, which became the medium of writing the Punjabi language in which the hymns of the Gurus are expressed. He also started helping the community to dissociate itself from the very reserved and complex nature of the Sanskrit religious tradition so that the growth and development of the Sikhs could take place unhampered and unprejudiced by the backlog of the earlier religious and social philosophies and practices. Earlier, the Gurmukhi language was written in the Landa or Mahajani script, which has no vowel sounds and had to be imagined or construed by the reader to decipher the writing. Guru Angad Dev Ji maintained the ritual of Langar, which was started by , and Mata Khivi Ji, the wife of Guru Angad Dev Ji, personally worked in the kitchen.
Guru Angad Dev ji always said
"This is the nature of ego, that people perform their actions in ego. This is the bo***ge of ego, that time and time again, makes people suffer”
"Eliminate your conceit and then perform service to humanity,
Only then you will get honor - Guru Angad Dev Ji"

We as a united team of tried to present the real truth of life which our gurus had taught us. Let's take the initiative to eliminate our egos and maintain peace and harmony within our country.

is the unique symbol of life. The ideology of dastar started from our first guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who also taught us the 3 rules for life – Kirat Karna, Naam Japna, and Vand ke Chakhna. The dastar is the Code of Sikh Conduct & Conventions, known as “Sikh Reht Maryada” which means that the dastar is an important dress to be worn especially by male Sikhs. As time moves forward, nowadays Sikh women also started to wear the dastar which gave a unique identity to Kaurs. Dastar also displays the courage, royalty, grace, and uniqueness to define a Sikh.
So we the team of Sikh Virsa present to you all the issue, “The Pride of Humanity - Dastar” on the occasion of . Hope you all will read, like, share and comment with your valuable thoughts on this.

Tegh Bahadur Simariyee,
Ghar Nau Nidh Aave Dhayee II
Sabh Thaii Hove Sahayee II

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was the 9th of the 10th guru of Sikhism. He is also referred to as the Hind Di Chadar, which means Protector of Humanity. He was born in Amritsar in 1621 and was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the sixth guru. After the battle with the Mughals, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji gave him the name of ‘Tegh Bahadur’ meaning ‘Mighty of the Sword’. In his early years, he learned different languages like Gurmukhi, Hindi, Sanskrit, and also other Indian religious philosophies as well. Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji taught him swordsmanship as he is the master of two swords, Miri and Piri.
In the 1640s, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji moved to Baba Bakala where he was staying with his mother Bebe Nanaki after the death of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. In March 1664, the eighth guru, Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji contracted smallpox so his followers asked him who will lead after him, so Guru Harkrishan Ji replied Baba Bakala where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was staying. Listening to this, Sikhs started gathering at Bakala in search of a guru.
In 1675, Hindu Pandits from the Kashmir region approached Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to seek help as the Mughals forced them to convert to Islam or else they have to die. Hearing this, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 9-year-old son Gobind Rai said, “Who is better than you to protect the poor Brahmins?” At that time, Guru Sahib Ji stood up & decided to support the Hindu Brahmins. When he decided to help the Hindu Pandits, he was beheaded publicly by Aurangzeb outside Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib Ji. Guru Ji’s head was cremated at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and his body was cremated at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.
After the supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, his son Gobind Rai wrote the Shabad

Thheekar forh dilees sir, Prabh pur keeaa payaan,
Teg Bahadur see kirya, karee na kinahoo aan.
Teg Bahaadur ke chalat, bhayo jagat ko sok,
Hai hai hai sabh jag bhayo, jai jai jai sur lok.

Casting off his bodily vesture on the head of Suzerain Of Delhi; Teg Bahadur departed to the Realm of God.
None who came into the world performed such glorious deeds as him.
On his departure, there was dismay in the world.
This world cried, "Alas, Alas". The Heavens rang with greetings of victory.

"Pavan mein Pavan Samaya
Jyoti Mein Jot Raljaya"

Following this Gurbani Line one of the Youngest Sikh Gurus, Guru Harkrishan Ji attained martyrdom by suffering from Smallpox while he cured others. He earned Gurgaddi at the age of 5 by following the teachings of Guru Nanak Ji and he always displayed equality in his actions. Aurangzeb tried his level best to have a glimpse of the Young Guru but failed every time. Even after Guru Sahib’s Joti Jot, when Aurangzeb demanded the Sikhs to lift the cloth on Guru Sahib’s body, the Earth beneath Aurangzeb shook open and showed the worst and scariest hell to Aurangzeb, who upon seeing this, fled to his palace. He never had a glimpse of Guru Sahib.
We as a united team of Sikh Virsa wants to highlight the sacrifices our young 8th Sikh Guru made.

United Team of Sikh Virsa celebrates the auspicious day of Gurgadddi of the Ninth Sikh Guru, "Guru Teg Bahadur Ji". When 8th Sikh Guru, Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji was asked by his followers, who would lead after him. He replied "Baba Bakala" which means that his successor was to be found in Bakala. Whereas, after listening to the last words of Guru Harkrishan many of his followers had shifted to Bakala in the greed of becoming the successor of the 8th Sikh Guru. Guru Tag Bahadur was the individual who blessed Makhan Shah Labana for offering of two gold coins he made to Guru Tag Bahadur Ji. The divine blessings to Makhan Shah compelled him to run upstairs and shout "Baba Ladho Re" meaning "I have found the Guru, I have found the Guru".
This is how our spiritual soul Guru Teg Bahadur attained his Gurgaddi. May god bless you all with lots of happiness, success and prosperity in life ahead.

Hola Mahalla- The Festival of Grace

Hola Mahalla, also called Hola, is a three-day Sikh festival that usually falls in the month of March. It takes place on the second day of the month of Chetti, usually after the Hindu spring festival of Holi, but sometimes coincides with it. Mohalla is an important festive event for Sikhs worldwide. The fair held at Anandpur Sahib during Holi and Hola is traditionally a three-day event, but participants follow Anandpur Sahib for a week, camping and enjoying various displays of martial arts and bravery, as well as listening to kirtan, music, and poetry. At meals, an integral part of a Sikh institution (Gurdwara), visitors sit together in Pangats (rows) and eat the dairy-vegetarian food of langars. The event ends on Hola Mohalla day with a long "army style" procession near Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, one of the five places of the temporal power of the Sikhs.

The Historical Aspect Of Hola Mahalla

The Holi festival in the spring is expanded upon by Hola Mahalla. There are verses in the Guru Granth Sahib that recommend celebrating Holi by giving God thanks. The Lord's love is represented through the Holi colours. T is also known as the festival of Phalgun even though the real day of Holi happens on the first day of the lunar month of Chett. Holi begins with Holika Dahan on the full moon night of Phagan or Phalgan. By including a martial aspect and inventing Hola Mohalla, which is celebrated the day following Holi, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji improved upon this manner of celebrating Holi. The first ever celebration of the Hola Mahalla took place at one of the five forts of Anandpur Sahib, Holgarh.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji followed the story of Prahlad and conveyed the message of courage, defense and preparation for the battles by establishing the festival Hola Mahalla in 1680. He addressed his supporters to Anandpur Sahib on Holi and introduced a new ritual ceremony allowing them to experience various folk songs practices and combat Sikh’s training. This occasion led the procession of the first “Nagda” ritual by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in Anandpur Sahib on 22nd February 1701 A.D. Further, a new Sikh tradition of overseeing mock battles and poetry contests at Lohgarh Fort which had its impressions on the town of Anandpur Sahib, Kiratpur Sahib, and the foothills of Shivaliks.

1922 Train Massacre Morcha Punja Sahib

Sikh community has always been a great contributor of joy, spirituality and a unique essence of bright celebrations of festivals across the Globe. Still, it holds a dark past behind which is now considered as the martyrdom of Sikh devotees while serving langars to the sikh prisoners.
At Sri Punja Sahib in Hasan-Abdaal, now in Pakistan, a significant incident took place in 1922 during the "Guru kaa Baagh" morcha. One day, a group of army retirees from the state of Kapurthala led by Subedar Amar Singh Dhaliwal were imprisoned for two-and-a-half-years and ordered to give a fine of Rs. 100 each by Magistrate Aslam Khan. After the announcement of the imprisonment they got transported to the Attock and Kamalpur jails. The train departed in the evening of October 29, 1922, travelling from Amritsar to Attak. On October 30, the train continued the path after a staff change and water for the locomotive.
The Rawal Pindi Sangat had demonstrated the charitable nature of Sikh community by deciding to serve langar to the Sikh prisoners when they got to know that the train of the prisoners will pass from the Punja Sahib Railway station. Moreover, the hardworking members of the sangat were ready with food and water for the Sikhs in the train. Whereas, the cruel British government decided not to stop the train at the particular station when they discovered that the Sangat has organized Langar for the Prisoners.
The station master told the Sangat that the arrangements made by them are worthless as the train won’t get stopped at the station. Bhai Karam Singh replied “Guru Nanak has stopped a mountain, cannot his devotees stop the train??, decided to lay on the railway track against the coming train with Bhai Partap Singh, Sardar Ganga Singh, Sardar Charan Singh, Sardar Nihal Singh, S. Tara Singh, S. Fakir Singh, S. Kalyan Singh and many other Singhs and Kaurs squatted. The driver of the train blew the whistle time but the singhs ignored it as they knew that this was the only time to attain martyrdom for the Sikh prisoners who got arrested unnecessarily.
The engine had crushed the bones of Bhai Karam Singh, Bhai Pratap Singh, and the others who suffered injuries. The train stopped. Bhai Partap Singh said to Sangat, "Serve the hungry Singhs on the train first. You can take care of us afterward."
The train halted for one and a half hours. The Sikhs served the Singhs on the train wholeheartedly and then turned to the injured. Bhai Karam Singh, the thirty-year-old son of Bhai Bhagwan Dass Mahant of Kesgarh Sahib died after a few hours. On the next day Bhai Partap Singh, twenty-four years of age, son of S. Sarup Singh goldsmith of Akal Garh, Gujranwala attained martyrdom. Before attaining martyrdom he recited " Kabira sant Muye kiya Roviye jo apne greh jaye rovo saakat bapre jo hato haat bikaye" and instructed his 18 years old wife that never cry over his death otherwise his sacrifice will be wasted. It is said that she never cried her whole life and bravely recited Gaddi the Chhand written in honor of these Train Martyrs and was also engrossed in "Naam Simran".
We as a united team of Sikh Virsa salute the whole-hearted contributors of The Sikh Community and these will remain in our heart and outshines the spirit of humanity

On the Third day of the Event- Singh Soorme- The Fearless Sikh Community.

As a cohesive Sikh Virsa team, we applaud the bravery of the Hindu Khatri family's heir from the village of Kunjah near Gujrat. Dewan Mokham Chand Nayyar was the Maharaja's general who had the highest distinction. Three years prior at Akalgarh, as well as again during the conflict with the Gujrati Bhangi Sardar, Ranjit Singh had witnessed him in action. After a disagreement with the Bhangi, Mokham Chand visited Ranjit Singh at his request. Ranjit gave him a fine welcoming present of an elephant and some horses, and he was given the Dallewalia property as a Jagir. He was given command of a cavalry division and given authority to enlist 1500-foot men.
In the Battle of Attock, Dewan led the army that destroyed the rulers of the Durrani Empire, Wazir Fateh Khan and Dost Mohammad Khan. On July 12, the Sikh forces attacked the Afghans with the Maharaja's approval.
The victorious life and legacy of Dewan Mokham Chand are ignored by History Syllabus makers, but we the team Sikh Virsa salutes the fearless warrior and the lion of the Sikh Community.

We all have discussed the modern warriors who have contributed to India and now our Sikh regiment has set an example of equality between the nation and their community as well.
During the celebration of Republic day in India Sikh regiment has shown a beautiful gesture by saluting two times. The first salute was to give respect to the President of India, whereas the second salute was in the honor of “Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib.” This ritual has always been followed by the Sikh community since 1990 and had earned respect from every citizen of India.
This commendable gesture not only shows the contribution and respect towards the nation but also signifies that they are proud to be a part of the Sikh community and strongly believe in their religion.
Moreover, this gesticulation also conveys the message of unity in India. Sikhs have always shown that India always has a special place in their hearts and now they have proved it again.
You all have everyone’s respect, and we thank all of you to show a small gesture of “Incredible India” for which we are famous.
