*Mobile phones, dongle seized from Kotbalwal jail in Jammu*

Jammu, Jun 14: Authorities have seized mobile phones and an internet dongle from the high-security Kot Bhalwal Central Jail on the outskirts of the city, officials said on Tuesday.

The seizures were made during a routine checking of the prison by the jail officials, they said.

Four mobiles and an internet dongle were hidden in a polythene bag near a washroom of a barrack, the officials said.

Authorities are investigating the matter and are checking the CCTV footage, they said.

The mobile phones have been handed over to the cyber crime department for further investigation, they said.

*J&K school board orders cessation of academic activities in Falah-e-Aam run institutions*

SRINAGAR, June 14: The Jammu and Kashmir school education department on Tuesday ordered cessation of academic activities in schools run by Falah-e-Aam (FAT), an affiliate of banned Jamaat-e-Islami, officials said here.

The order comes in the backdrop of probe done by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police which alleged gross illegalities, outright frauds, mass-scale encroachment of Government lands by FAT.

The FAT, according to the officials, is an affiliate of radical body Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) which is proscribed by Ministry of Home Affairs under the provisions of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The officials alleged that JeI mostly draws its sustenance from the vast network of FAT schools, seminaries, orphanages, pulpits of mosques and other charities and added that such institutions played a destructive role in large-scale unrests of 2008, 2010 and 2016 bringing huge miseries to common people and forcing them for shutdowns by threat, intimidation and street violence.

Interestingly, almost all FAT schools numbering over 300 have been found to be existing on illegally-acquired government and community land wherein land was occupied by coercion, at gunpoint as well as colluding with revenue officials who made wrong entities in revenue documents by committing fraud and forgery, the officials said.

The SIA has already registered FIR in such matter and the agency is expanding the ambit of these investigations to unearth all such frauds, unauthorised entities and forgeries that have been been committed in last 30 years at the behest of terrorists and for other considerations which include monetary gratifications, the officials said. Union MOS Jal Shakti visits Ganderbal.Reviews implementation of JJM in district.

Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Food Processing Industries Shri Prahlad Singh Patel today visited district Ganderbal and reviewed implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district during a meeting held at Meeting Hall Manasbal.
During the meeting, a thorough review of the Jal Jeeven Mission was taken in general while focusing primarily on District Ganderbal. The MoS was briefed about the progress achieved under JJM in the district through a Power Point presentation and was informed that the district has achieved 100 percent implementation of JJM on 13th August 2020.The achievements of the Rural Water Supply Division Ganderbal were also highlighted on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the MoS said that the mandate of Jal Jeevan Mission is to provide functional household tap connection to every rural household that will significantly improve quality of life, particularly of women and children and assist in ODF-sustainability as water is important to sustain Swachh Bharat Mission’s gains.

The Minister also enquired about the augmentation of infrastructure under the scheme. The Minister was apprised of the status of coverage, water supply schemes and other related aspects of water supply in the district. The main focus was on implementation of JJM in order to realize the vision of JJM in letter and spirit.

While reviewing the infrastructure created under JJM, the minister directed the Chief Engineer to carry out inspections by empanelled third party agencies for all infrastructures created under the JJM at an earliest.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Jal Shakti, Ashok Parmar, Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti, Basharat Kawoosa, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Srinagar/ Ganderbal, Gircharan Singh, Technical Advisor JJM, Kuljit Singh, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Rural Water Supply Division Ganderbal/ Srinagar and other officers from Rural Development Department. Chairperson District Development Council Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq was also present on the occasion.
