The Story of Kamal Lochan and his two sisters !

As per report published in the Koraput edition of Odia daily newspaper The Samaja dated 24-01-2020, Kamal Lochan Muduli is the son of Late Arjun Muduli of Boriput village, near Ranigada village, Block - Jeypore, District- Koraput, State- Odisha. He is around 13 years old and lives with his two minor sisters who are 6 years old and 11 years old respectively. Their father Arjuna Muduli has died few years ago leaving behind 3 minor children. Their mother has abandoned these kids and does not live with them anymore.

This leaves the three small children in a village where they have a house, where no one is there who can take care of them, who can cook them a meal or who can feed them. They depend on the 35 kgs of subsidied rice from the Government everymonth to satisfy their hunger. That is their only means to survival. The 11 years old girl cooks for the whole family of three.

The team of Power of Goodness reached the village and upon investigating we came to know that, the children have an elder sister who is married and lives in some other village.

They do have relatives in the village who sympathize with them but are unable to do much help to these children except providing them an occasional meal or two.

After interacting with the Kamal Lochan, his sisters and the villagers of Boriput, the team of Power of Goodness felt that, the immediate help what these children needed was some food material. We provided them with some rice, lentil (dal), cooking oil and salt, on which the children may survive for a few weeks.

Although this may do some immediate help to the innocent children in satisfying their hunger, it is definitely not enough to give those innocent children the opportunity to live a healthy and secured life where they can study, learn and realize their potential.

What we as a society can do to help those innocent children?

Her name is 'Baudi'.

She does not know what her age is. No else knows that either.

She is staying in this abandoned and broken shopping complex located in Raju Street, Jeypore, Odisha on the banks this water body namely Jagannath Sagar.

Incessant monsoon, chilling wind that blows above the large water body, almost empty stomach - she has been defeating all these difficulties all these months.

Until few months ago she used to do odd jobs like washing dishes for families residing nearby and was living on the food and the little money she used to get paid for her service. Since last few months, she is barely able to walk to any thing. When she could not go to work, she started begging in front of the local Shiva temple called Panchanana Mandir, until the temple was closed in the lock down.

Now she is in a position where she does not know where is her next meal going to come from. In fact she does not even know whether it is going to come or not. Sometime she lives on the food locals give her. Many a time, she goes hungry these days. When she doesn't have food to eat, one can forget about other necessities like clothes, bed or medicines.

She is counting her days. Probably she is counting her hours. No one knows if she will be alive tomorrow.

Looking at her condition I don't know who can help her. I don't even know what can be of right help to her either.

But then I thought let me reach out to the world. Let me reach out to you guys. Because I felt, it will not be difficult for a society of more than a hundred crore people to help one poor lady in the last few days of her life.

Please help if you can. Please suggest what can be of right help for her.
