By finding Which generation does your target audience belong to?
X, Z, Y

All marketing strategy is based on identifying and knowing our target audience.

There are mainly 4 active generations

Baby Boomers: The group of population born between 1946 and 1964. Interested in the digital world, but not really used to it. Their favorite social media tools are Facebook, Google +, and Twitter.

Generation X: People who were born between 1965 and 1979, also called ‘digital immigrants’, ‘Gen X’ or ‘MTV Generation’. Considered at present as those that move the world at economic level. Tech-lovers, but still quite alien to the internet world, social media, or e-commerce.

Generation Y: Those born between 1980 and 1999, also known as ‘Millennials’. They grew with the internet, love social media as a communication tool, including blogs, videos, and addicted to their smartphones and tablets.

Gen Z: Group of people who were born from the year 2000. They are also identified with the name of ‘Centennials’. The Internet is part of their routine and daily life, as they are connected 20 hours a week to the internet by any of its forms. Their favorite social media are Instagram, Snapchat or YouTube.

An effective tool when marketing your brand to the masses is utilising human emotion, who would have thought us humans would connect with emotion!?

It seems resoundingly obvious, however it’s something I rarely see done effectively with small to medium sized companies.

However it may be the punch your brand voice is missing, to be clear here - typically you can market 1 or maybe 2 but more emotions than that and you risk your brand becoming confusing and ambiguous.

Try this simple exercise on a legal pad and see what emotions connect with you, your audience, your staff & your brand.

A good tip is to push yourself to find more distinctive & own-able words (not just “we want to be trusted”) almost everyone thinks that.

Be more exciting, pointed, daring & find something ownable. A good resource to find similar words to the ones you fancy is by looking at synonyms on a website like wordhippo.com

So you're coming to the end of a project. You head into the meeting to present your work to the client, pleased with what you've accomplished, and then BAM! You're told you completely missed the mark 😐

It can be difficult not to get wrapped up in projects and take them in a different directions then originally discussed. Sometimes we're so involved that we can't see the bigger picture.

But once you're in the meeting, you and your client can still be constructive with where to go next. Small changes might make a big impact and you might just need the client to help you realign.

That's exactly what happened in Design From Scratch episode 3 (the final episode! Click the link in our bio to watch it now.) To save you making the same mistakes we did, here are five tips to help you stay on track throughout projects and present your work to the client with clear vision:
1️⃣ Always refer back to the Stylescape™ (tap the link in slide 8 to see more about this).
2️⃣ Stay objective.
3️⃣ Resist the urge to share anything without context.
4️⃣ Let the client know what you're looking for feedback on.

Quality versus Quantity - which should win?
This post is definitely going to cause some controversy ‼️
In our experience (and many others), posting more often has resulted in higher engagement overall.
Think about it - it's better to post 4 times a week and increase your likelihood of being seen, liked and followed by new users than posting one 'perfect' post and getting average engagement. 🌟 This is especially true if you're just starting out and trying to grow your following.
If you find yourself wondering "How much Instagram content should I post per week?" and "I made a great post, but it didn't get much engagement. Why is no one seeing my posts?" then try letting go off perfection and try prioritizing quantity over quality for a few weeks to compare results.
Don’t post ‘trash’ content. What we mean is, when you reach a time where you believe the piece of content you’re working on encapsulates your idea, STOP working on it!
The hours spent ‘perfecting’ posts could be used to create more content. In the end, the audience decides which content deserves the highest level of engagement. So post it and see how it performs. Then learn from the results.
