People don't buy products or services, they buy solution to their problems...

You want to increase your chances of closing the sale or recruiting your prospects then first understand their challenges, hold a discussion about what troubles them and once you have gained enough information about their pain points then and then only introduce your product, service or opportunity mentioning how you've the best solution to their challenges.

Tips for selling online through DM's:

1. Do research on the person you're about to DM, take time to learn about them, what are their interests and challenges before sending a DM.

2. Address the person with their name: Unsolicited DM's can be frustrating but what's even more frustrating is someone texting you with a "Hi", "Hey" or "Hello" or misspelling your name.

3. Ask questions! Don't assume that you know their problems and pain points... Create a conversation and an environment of trust so the prospect can share their issues, then tell them how you can help them.

4. Don't make it all about you: "Hi, I am founder of this group/club... We do this and that, we offer this and that..." Nobody really cares, briefly introduce yourself and tell your prospect the reason for reaching out.

5. Aim for a long term relationship: You can do this by engaging with their posts, reacting to their stories, answering their poles etc... The person you're reaching out to might not need your service yet, but may need so in couple of months... This is why building a genuine relationship is so important.

6. Tell them how you can help them solve their issues: People don't want your product or service until they understand how it'll help them... Show off and demonstrate the value of your product or service.

7. Don't use the DM to pitch for your product or service. When introducing yourself, give a quick overview of your service without falling into the trap in point no. 4 where you just talk about yourself. Creating high-quality content that resonates with the prospect and building good relationships with them will speak for you.

8. Give before you take: Lead with value and warm them up with a freebie that can help solve their problem... It could be a video, pdf, ebook or an invitation to some free session aimed at helping people... Ask them if they're interested.

One thing that everyone dislikes is to sold be it in person or on social media and yet many people use social media to influence others and increase their sales... one needs to first build a connection and earn trust of others before they are willing to buy from you... don't start selling immediately on social media.. first understand the challenges and issues a person might be facing, be genuinely interested in helping them find solutions to their problems adding value to them and if they show interest then and then only promote your product/services you offer.
