ಸರಳತೆ, ಸಜ್ಜನಿಕೆ ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ನಗು ಮೊಗವನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ಮನಸ್ಸೆಂದರೆ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಏರ್‌ಪೋರ್ಟ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ನಮ್ಮ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸಣ್ಣ. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರಂತಿರುವ ಇವರ ಅಸಮಾನ್ಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ಪರಿಚಯ ಹಲವು ಬಾರಿ ದಿನ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಓದಿ, ಟಿವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಾರವಾಗುವ ಸುದ್ದಿ ವರದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ, ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಅವರೊಡನೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಪರಿಚಯವಿದ್ದರೂ, ಮುಖಾಮುಖಿಯಾಗಿ ಏರ್‌ಪೋರ್ಟ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭೇಟಿಯಾದ ಆ ದಿನ, ಅವರ ಸುಂದರ ಸೂಜಿಗಲ್ಲು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಹತ್ತಿರವಾದೆ. ಒಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರಭಾವಯುತ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಯ ಕೈಗಳು ಲಗೇಜ್ ಹಿಡಿದು, ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಕನ್ನಡಕವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡೆ. ಪರ್ಫೆಕ್ಟ್! ತಮ್ಮ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ದಿನಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳ ಪಾಲಿಟಿಕ್ಸ್ ಕಾಲಮ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಂಬಿಸಲಾಗುವ ಸರಳತೆಯ ಸರದಾರ, ಸಮಾಜ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಸಚಿವರಾದ ಕೋಟ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ಪೂಜಾರಿ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇರು ಹುದ್ದೆಯನ್ನು ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದರೂ ಕೊಂಚವೂ ತಾನೊಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರಭಾವಶಾಲಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯೆಂಬ ಅಹಂ, ಅವರ ನಿರ್ಮಲ ಅಂತರಂಗವನ್ನು ಹೊಕ್ಕದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡರೆ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವೂ ಆಗುತ್ತೆ. ಕಣ್ಣೆದುರೇ ದರ್ಶನವಾದ ಅವರ ಸರಳತೆಗೆ ಆಕರ್ಷಿತನಾಗಿ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಮಾತನಾಡಿಸುವ ಹಂಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಬಿರುಸು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿತು. ಇನ್ನೇನು... ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೋಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟೆ. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ಹೊರಡುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ, ‘ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಊರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗೋಣ’ ಎಂದು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಆಪ್ತರಂತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಹತ್ತಿರವಾದರು. ಒಬ್ಬ ಹೆಸರಾಂತ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿ, ತನ್ನ ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಮ್ಮು-ಬಿಮ್ಮು ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರಂತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಸರಳತೆಯ ರಾಜನಾದ ನಿದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾದೆ.

Recently my wandering gaze met with a real gentleman, known for his simplicity and kind heart at the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. None other than Kota Srinivas Poojary, a fantastic politician of our Karnataka currently serving as the Minister of Social Welfare Department of Karnataka. A perfectly respected position for the perfectly simple and compassionate person.

The way a powerful leader stood all alone at the airport holding his luggage just attracted my soul to him. Boom! I started conversing with him. After talking to him for minutes, he bade me, “Let’s meet again in the town”. Although I have met him several times before, this meeting grasped a special place in my heart. This powerful man never fails to stun everyone with his simplicity. He is worth praising…

A Day Long Hindustani Classical Music Festival " ಅಮೃತ ಭಾರತಿಗೆ ಸಂಗೀತದಾರತಿ" was held on 4th September 2022 at Ranga Adhyayana Kendra, Kundapura. The event was jointly organised by Sangeeta Bharathi Trust, Kundapur and Chirantana Charitable Trust, Surathkal supported by Dept of Kannada & Culture, Maax Media, Udupi and Bhandarkar 's Arts and Science College, Kundapura.
