The Batman himself, Kevin Conroy, has died at the age of 66 following a short battle with cancer.

Kevin Conroy is best known for his starring role in the acclaimed TV show ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ (1992-1995). He continued to voice Bruce Wayne / Batman in the subsequent spin-off series ‘The New Batman Adventures’ (1997–1999), ‘Batman Beyond’ (1999–2001), ‘Justice League’ (2001–2004), and ‘Justice League Unlimited’ (2004–2006) within the classic DC Animated Universe. In addition, Conroy voiced the Caped Crusader in various DCAU films such as 1993’s ‘Batman: Mask of the Phantasm’, 1998’s ‘Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero’, 2000’s ‘Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker’, and 2003’s ‘Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman’.

In recent years, Kevin Conroy reprised his role as the Batman in video games, including the acclaimed Batman Arkham and Injustice franchises, animated films such as 2016’s 'Batman: The Killing Joke' and 2017’s 'Batman and Harley Quinn', and the latest animated series 'Justice League Action' and ‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’. In 2019, Conroy portrayed Bruce Wayne in live-action in ‘Batwoman’’s episode of The CW’s Arrowverse crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths", and recently voiced Batman in 2022’s video game MultiVersus, adding to the impressive honor of having played Batman longer than any other actor in either live-action or animation.

For the last 30 years, Kevin Conroy has brought the Dark Knight to life for generations of fans, and created the definitive voice of the beloved DC icon. Losing Kevin Conroy is mourning the loss of such an influential figure within Batman’s 83 year history, but his timeless legacy will be forever cherished and live on for generations to come. I personally send condolences to Kevin Conroy’s family, friends, colleagues, and fans. Rest In Peace Batman, wherever your journey takes you in the Multiverse. You will be missed.✌🏽💔🦇🙏🏽
