PM Modi signals Assembly Elections, restoration of statehood in J&K Soon

"In real sense the the wall of Article 370 has been broken down".

Srinagar, June 20 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that preparations for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have begun,

He said this during his speech at SKICC during the 'Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K' event in Srinagar where he is on two-day visit.

"The people of Jammu and Kashmir elect their representatives at the local level, through them you find ways to solve problems, what can be better than this?, " he said.

" Therefore, preparations for the Assembly elections have also started. The time is not far when you will elect the new government of Jammu and Kashmir with your votes.

Signalling for restoration of statehood, the Prime Minister said that that day will also come soon, when Jammu and Kashmir will once again make its future better as a state.

He also complimented the youth of J&K for high voter turnout in recently held Parliamentary elections.

" Youths of JK have ensured victory of democracy in the Lok Sabha polls," he said.

Modi also said the Central government is making efforts to bridge the divides: “Duri Dil ke rahe ho ya Delhi ke, we are trying our best to erase them. Now in real sense the the wall of Article 370 has been broken down.”

PM Modi also inaugurated 84 major developmental projects valued at over Rs 1,500 crores and also launched the agriculture-related projects worth Rs 1,800 crores and the construction of new national highways and expressways.

"Now every Indian feels proud when seeing pictures of the world's highest bridge on the river Chenab," he said..

Motorcyclist dies after being hit by tipper in Bijbehera

Anantnag Jun10 : A young motorcyclist died on Monday evening after being hit by a tipper near Donipora area of Bijbehera in south Kashmir' Anantnag district, officials said.

An official told news agency,that the accident took place on Jammu-Srinagar Highway near Donipora crossing.

He said the motorcyclist was critically injured and was shifted to SDH Bijbehara for treatment, where he succumbed to injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Shahid Ahmed Rather (20) son of Nazir Ahmad Rather of Chowgund Verinag.

Reasi Attack: LG announces Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to NOKs of slain, Rs 50,000to injured

Srinagar, Jun 10 : A day after the Reasi attack left nine persons dead, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the Next of Kins of each martyr pilgrim.

He also said that the injured persons would be given Rs 50,000 each.

As per the news agency, Sinha said that a joint operation is in the progress to neutralise the perpetrators of the attack in Reasi.

"An ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh to be given to the next of kin of pilgrims martyred in Reasi terror attack. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000. The injured pilgrims are being treated at different hospitals in Jammu & Reasi. A control room has been created by the district administration to provide all necessary assistance. A joint security force temporary HQ by J&K Police, Army and CRPF has been set up at the site and operation is in progress to neutralise the perpetrators of Reasi terror attack," Office of LG J&K wrote on X.

21 dead, 69 injured after bus rolls down deep gorge in Akhnoor President Murmu, LG Sinha express grief, condole loss of lives in the incident Jammu, May 30 : At least 21 persons were killed and 69 injured after a bus with pilgrims onboard fell into a deep gorge in Chungi Morh area of Akhnoor in Jammu district on Thursday afternoon, officials said. An official told news agency, that the bus was on way from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh to Shiv Khori area of Reasi district when it met with an accident. He said that the bus fell around 200 meters into a deep gorge, following which a rescue operation was launched and injured persons were evacuated to hospital. Block Medical Officer Akhnoor, Muhammad Saleem Khan told KNO that 21 were brought dead to hospital and around 69 were injured. “The critically injured have been referred to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment,” he said. Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu expressed grief over the incident. "Pained beyond words to learn about the loss of lives in a bus accident in Akhnoor near Jammu. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I wish speedy recovery of the injured," she said in a post on X. Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha called the incident as "heart-rending" and said that the administration is providing all possible support. "The bus accident in Akhnoor, Jammu is heart-rending. I condole the loss of lives and pray to the almighty to give the bereaved families the strength to bear the irreparable loss. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. The administration is providing all possible assistance to the bereaved families and is also extending medical facilities to those who have been injured," he said in a post on X.
