"How Are We Alive": Sajad Lone on Alleged Hate Speeches by NC MLAs

"Earlier NC leaders would say enemies of muslims and on Contrary CM Omar gives "no clouds in the sky" speech".

Handwara, Jan 15 : Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) President and MLA Handwara, Sajad Lone, has strongly criticized leaders of the National Conference (NC) for their alleged hate speeches of its leaders during elections which are in contrary of CM Omar Abdullah praising PM Modi.

In a Post on X, he accused them of creating an atmosphere of hostility and violence through their rhetoric.

Referring to the aftermath of the "no clouds in the sky" speech by the Chief Minister, Lone pointed out that thousands of speeches made by NC contestants, many of whom are now MLAs, surfaced on social media. He claimed that these speeches contained venomous and inflammatory content, portraying their political opponents as enemies of Muslims and inciting communal hatred.

"I heard some of them. I shivered. I wonder how we are alive," Lone remarked, emphasizing the dangerous impact of such statements. He alleged that these leaders worked to create circumstances that could lead to political killings, in a place where past utterances have resulted in violence.

Reiterating his stance on political assassinations, Lone said, "It is the evil mouth and the even eviler brain that sums up the anatomy of a political killing. The one who presses the trigger is, as a rule, a dispensable brainwashed idiot."

He further stated that his social media team has been directed to compile a digital list of such speeches, asserting that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve to know what their leaders said during elections and what they are saying now..

Mysterious disease claims another life in Rajouri; death toll reaches 14

6-year-old girl succumbs; residents panicked; Dir Health Jammu says investigating toxicology link; Health minister calls for further tests to ascertain causes.

Srinagar, Jan 14 : A six-year-old girl has succumbed to a mysterious disease in Badhaal village, located in the Kotranka sub-division of Rajouri district, bringing the death toll to 14 since December 2024. The latest victim passed away in a local hospital while receiving treatment.

The outbreak has sparked widespread panic among residents as the disease continues to claim lives, including many children, in the village.

Residents of Badhaal are increasingly worried by the fatalities, especially since the victims do not belong to any single family. This has left every household concerned about the health of its members.

Symptoms exhibited by the victims include high fever, excessive sweating, vomiting and episodes of loss of consciousness. Despite extensive medical management, the precise cause of the illness remains unidentified. This has prompted doctors to treat cases symptomatically while waiting for definitive findings.

Minister of Health Sakina Itoo discussed the situation, saying, “In December, there were several mysterious deaths recorded in the district, which were later controlled. We are currently investigating the cause of these deaths.”

She said that on January 9, seven children were affected and subsequently transferred to hospitals in Jammu and Rajouri, with some tragically passing away.

“The samples collected have all returned negative so far. We need further tests to clarify the cause of the deaths. I have directed the Health and Medical Secretary to visit the district, and I am in regular contact with local health and police officials,” the minister added.

Specialist teams from national institutions such as the National Institute of Virology (Pune), PGI Chandigarh, NCDC, and AIIMS Delhi have been dispatched to the affected village. These teams are conducting field studies and collecting samples for laboratory analysis.

High-ranking officials and medical professionals from leading hospitals in Jammu have also visited Badhaal to assist in the investigation.

The tragic sequence of events began on December 8 when Mohammad Fazal and his four children lost their lives, followed by the deaths of three children from another family, led by Mohammad Rafiq. Rafiq’s pregnant wife also died on December 23, a case linked to medical negligence.

Two siblings succumbed to the illness on January 12, with another sibling passing away on January 13. On Monday evening, 62-year-old Mohammad Yusuf, a relative of the affected family, died at GMC Rajouri, and on Tuesday, a six-year-old girl succumbed.

Dr Rakesh Magotra, Director of Health Services Jammu, informed that toxicology is likely behind these deaths, although no viral or infectious link has been established so far. He said experts from the national institutions have verbally noted the presence of toxins, and further investigations are ongoing..

J&K incomplete without PoK: Rajnath Singh

‘PoK crown jewel of India, foreign territory for Pak’

Commends efforts of CM Omar Abdullah towards improving Delhi, J&K relations

Asks neighboring country to dismantle terror camps or face consequences.

Akhnoor (Jammu), Jan 14 : Describing Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) as the “crown jewel of India” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir is incomplete without the PoK.

Speaking at the 9th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day event here Singh said, “PoK is the crown jewel of India, which is nothing more than a foreign territory to Pakistan.”

“J&K is incomplete without PoK. The people living there are being deprived of a dignified life. Efforts are being made by Pakistan to mislead and provoke them against India in the name of religion,” the Defence Minister said, adding, “PoK’s land is being used for terrorism. Training camps for terrorists are running and launch pads have been built in the areas adjacent to the border. The Indian government is well aware of the situation. Pakistan will have to put an end to its nefarious designs.”

He accused Pakistan of trying to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir. “Dismantle terror camps or face consequences…” Singh said, adding, “Over 80% of terrorists entering India come from Pakistan.”

“The war between India and Pakistan was fought in Akhnoor in 1965. India succeeded in thwarting the efforts of the Pakistani Army. Pakistan has been promoting illegal infiltration and terrorism since 1965. Cross-border terrorism would have ended in 1965 itself, but the then Central Government was unable to convert the tactical advantage gained in the war into a strategic advantage," he said.

DELHI-J&K RELATIONS

Commenting on relations between New Delhi and J&K Government, the Defence Minister said, “Our government's top priority is to remove the gap between Kashmir and the rest of India. J&K CM Omar Abdullah is taking steps in this direction," he said.

Singh said that the efforts are underway to minimise the distance between the hearts of people of J&K and Delhi.

He said, “Army veterans have always defeated the enemies during the war to safeguard the country. Pakistan has always been defeated by our soldiers (veterans) be it in 1948, 1965, 1971 or 1999 war."

Talking about the Veterans' Day celebrations, Singh remarked, "Akhnoor holds the same importance for us as Delhi."

The Defence Minister added that 2025 is the diamond jubilee year of the 1965 Indo-Pak war, and India’s victory was the result of the valour & sacrifice of the armed Forces.

He reiterated the government’s commitment towards the welfare of the veterans, serving soldiers and their families.

Terming it as a top priority, he assured that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) will always work beyond its capacity to ensure the well-being of its soldiers, who remain as the assets to the country even after retirement.

He enumerated the steps taken by MoD and underlined that the Government stands with the soldiers of the country at every step.

One year On: Father’s Year-Long Struggle to Find Son Lost in Russia-Ukraine Conflict.

Srinagar Jan 14 : It has been over a year since Mohammad Amin Sheikh, a resident of Hajinar Karnah north Kashmir’s Kupwara District, began his heartbreaking quest to find his son, Zahoor Sheikh, who remains missing after being fraudulently recruited into the Russian army and reportedly sent to the war-torn Russia-Ukraine border. Despite repeated petitions to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Russian Embassy, and countless sleepless nights, Sheikh’s search has yielded no answers.

Zahoor Sheikh, 27, vanished in December 2023 after contacting his family for the last time. According to Mohammad Amin Sheikh, his son had been promised a job in Russia after watching a recruitment video online. However, upon arrival, Zahoor was coerced into joining the Russian military and sent to the conflict zone.

“He last spoke to us on December 31, 2023, saying he was going for training and would not be available for three months. But weeks later, rumours about Indian men dying in the Russia-Ukraine war began to surface. We tried reaching him, but his number was unreachable. Since then, there has been no news,” Sheikh said, his voice trembling with despair.

Determined to uncover his son's fate, Mohammad Amin Sheikh has knocked on every door possible. His petitions to the MEA and Indian Embassy in Moscow have largely gone unanswered. "We visited Delhi several times, hoping to meet officials and seek clarity. But no concrete information has been provided. It feels like no one cares about what we’re going through," he lamented.
Zahoor is among at least 15 Indian men who remain unaccounted for in Russia, according to MEA sources.

Families of the missing men have repeatedly sought the government’s intervention, emphasizing that these individuals were deceived and forcibly enlisted. However, their efforts have been met with silence from Russian authorities.

For Mohammad Amin Sheikh, every passing day feels like a lifetime. “It’s been a year and a month now. I’ve lost count of the doors I’ve knocked on. My son left to secure a better future, but instead, we are living a nightmare. All I want is to know if my son is alive or... he’s no more.”

Despite repeated appeals, the Indian government has struggled to get answers from Russian officials. The families continue to live in anguish, their only solace being each other as they cling to hope..
