Zaffer Mir questions allocation of all three dialysis centres to Charar-e-Sharief at Chadoora’s expense

Condemns NC’s political bias; Says Chadoora once again made victim of neglect

Budgam, Dec 28: PDP leader Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) has vehemently denounced the government’s controversial decision to allocate all three newly sanctioned dialysis centres exclusively to the Charar-e-Sharief constituency in Budgam district.

In a strongly worded statement, Zaffer Mir highlighted that the centres, to be established at CHC Charar-e-Sharief, CHC Pakharpora, and CHC Nagam, are emblematic of blatant political favoritism, particularly given that the constituency is represented by a senior National Conference leader.

Describing the decision as a grave injustice, Zaffer asserted that it disregards the urgent healthcare needs of other constituencies, especially Chadoora, which includes key areas such as BK Pora and Chadoora. He noted that these regions have long suffered from chronic neglect, with inadequate healthcare infrastructure persisting for decades.

“This flagrant neglect of Chadoora’s healthcare needs is unacceptable,” Mir declared. “Since 1977, successive governments have systematically failed this region, perpetuating inequality and denying the people their rightful access to healthcare. This must end immediately.”

Zaffer Mir called for an urgent review of the allocation process, demanding that at least one dialysis centre be established at CHC Chatterghar or CHC Chadoora. He emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental right and must not be compromised by political favoritism.

“The residents of BK Pora and Chadoora deserve equitable access to essential healthcare services,” he stressed. “The administration must prioritize fairness and inclusivity, ensuring no region is sidelined in the allocation of critical resources.”

Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the marginalized, Zaffer urged the government to take immediate corrective measures to rectify the imbalance and ensure fair distribution of healthcare facilities across Budgam district.

He vowed to continue his fight for justice and equity, advocating for the rights of the neglected and underserved communities.

PDP leader Zaffer Mir inspects hazardous mining at Doodganga stream

Asks Dyp. CM Surinder Chaudhary to intervene & halt the illegal mineral extraction

Srinagar, Oct 28: J&K People's Democratic Party leader Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) conducted a late-night inspection on Sunday of ongoing illegal mining activities in the Doodganga stream, visiting areas such as Alipora, Mudbal, and Sogam within Chadoora Tehsil, District Budgam.

During his visit, Mir witnessed extensive environmental degradation due to heavy machinery actively mining the riverbed, which poses serious risks to local agriculture and the broader ecosystem.

Interacting with local residents, he was apprised of an unauthorized stone crusher operating on the Doodganga riverbed at Alipora that has further aggravated the environmental damage.

In response, Mir committed to formally raise this issue with Deputy Chief Minister Shri Surinder Chowdary, who oversees the Mining portfolio and will request his immediate intervention to halt these unlawful activities.

Addressing the media, Mir pointed out that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had also previously imposed penalties on non-local contractors for similar infractions, directing the district administration to implement stringent measures.

"Despite NGT directives, illegal mining continues unabated. The government, elected by the people, must prioritize ending these detrimental practices to safeguard our environment and local resources," Mir asserted.

Zaffer Mir expresses concern over growing disparity faced by general category

Advocates for merit-based opportunities in govt. jobs & education

Srinagar, October 19:*People's Democratic Party leader Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) has raised serious concerns about the mounting difficulties being faced by the general category in Jammu & Kashmir due to the current reservation policy.

In a recent statement, Mir highlighted how the policy, while aimed at uplifting marginalized communities, has created significant challenges for the general category, particularly in areas like government jobs and educational opportunities.

Mir pointed out that with over 66% of positions reserved for various categories, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), the general category is left with only 34% of opportunities.

"While the goal of reservation is to ensure equity, the imbalance it has created for the general category is undeniable. This policy has disproportionately affected educated youth and job seekers from the general category, leading to frustration and a sense of injustice. In sectors where merit should be the primary criterion, deserving candidates are often left behind," Mir said.

Citing the alarming unemployment rate of 23.1% in J&K, he stressed that the present dispensation must address this growing issue. He underscored that the general category, which forms a significant portion of the educated workforce, is finding itself marginalized in both employment and education due to the shrinking pool of opportunities available to them.

Mir urged the government to review the reservation policy and ensure that merit does not fall victim to the current lopsided structure.

"The reservation policy, though essential for uplifting weaker sections, should not result in the systematic sidelining of deserving candidates from the general category. The government must strike a balance that guarantees fairness for all," he added.

Muneeb Quraishi calls for age relaxation in J&K police recruitment

Urges JKSSB to adjust age limits for fairer & judicious recruitment

Srinagar, August 11: Seeking an urgent relaxation in the current age limit cap for police recruitment in Jammu and Kashmir, political leader Muneeb Quraishi has expressed concerns about many aspirants whose hopes are hanging in the balance.

In a recent post on X, he highlighted the challenges faced by the youth of the region due to prolonged unrest, which has disrupted their educational and career paths. The current age limits for SI and Constable positions (18-28 years) fail to account for these unique circumstances.

Quraishi pointed out that other states have recognized similar challenges, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, by granting age relaxations.

He urged the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) to consider revising the age criteria to create a more inclusive and fair recruitment process.

Expanding the eligible age range, according to Quraishi, would not only benefit the candidates but also strengthen the police force by broadening the pool of applicants.

He called on the authorities to make this change, emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir deserves the same consideration as other states in addressing these critical issues.
