Marij Zahoor, Managing Director of GD Goenka Healthcare Paramedical Institute in Srinagar, has hailed the recent Union Budget as a significant boost to healthcare and education in Kashmir.

According to Mr Marij, the budget allocations will have a transformative impact on the region's development. The healthcare sector, in particular, is set to benefit from increased funding, with a total allocation of ₹98,311 crore, up from ₹89,287 crore in the previous fiscal year ¹.

Key initiatives in the healthcare sector include the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) to enhance health coverage for vulnerable populations, as well as the establishment of 200 daycare cancer centres in district hospitals across the country ¹.

In the education sector, the budget proposes significant investments in research, skill training, and accessibility. This includes an allocation of ₹500 crore for three Centres of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, focusing on research and skilling ².

Marij's optimistic assessment of the budget's impact on Kashmir's healthcare and education sectors is shared by many experts, who see this as a critical step towards addressing the region's development challenges.
