Sikkim’s Soreng district shines bright: Crowned best district in NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP)

Sikkim's Soreng district has emerged as the top-performing district among the 112 districts nationwide participating in the Aspiration District Programme, according to an official statement released on July 14 by the District Collector's office in Soreng.

The Aspiration District Program (ADP), initiated by PM Narendra Modi in January 2018, aims to expedite the comprehensive development of the 112 most underdeveloped districts in the country.

The ADP focuses on three key elements: Convergence, Collaboration, and Competition. These involve the coordination of central and state schemes, cooperation between central and state-level officials, and the monthly ranking of districts based on incremental progress across 49 key performance indicators in five socio-economic sectors: Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture & Water Resources, Financial Inclusion, and Skill Development & Infrastructure.

The Soreng district secured first position in Health & Nutrition, tenth in Education, seventh in Agriculture & Water Resources, tenth in Financial Inclusion, and twelfth in Skill Development & Infrastructure. This outstanding performance led to Soreng securing the top spot in the overall ranking for the month of May, surpassing the other 112 competing districts.

Soreng's Deputy Commissioner (DC), Bhim Thatal, expressed delight at the district's achievement and highlighted that Soreng had consistently excelled in most key performance indicators over the past nine months.

Notably, the reward money granted under the ADP is awarded only upon successfully meeting the specified targets in the five KPIs. Sikkim's Chief Minister PS Tamang extended his congratulations to the district of Soreng for its remarkable accomplishment, which was also acknowledged earlier by the NITI Aayog through a formal letter of appreciation to the DC and the entire team.

Team approached SDM (HQ) Shri D. R Bista and collected immediate relief materials and delivered it to the families of the victims.

Heavy rainfall which triggered a flash flood and series of landslides at various places under 03 Maneybong Constituency on the wee hour of 18th June,Sunday, has caused a major havoc forcing over ten households to shift from their residence and causing major to minor damages to over fifty households.

SKM Jan Yodha Team, as directed by Hon'ble Chief Minister, has been coordinating with the party workers engaged in the rescue and relief operation.
The team, today, participated in distribution of relief materials in the presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister at Simphok, Uttarey.

The Hon'ble Chief Minister in his speech lauded the effort of the department ,civilians and the party workers in rescue and mitigating effort and has assured all possible support to the affected families.
He further instructed the departmental officials to restore the connectivity at the earliest.

"Janta Bhet Karyakram" a massive outreach programme of Hon'ble Chief Minister is being touted as a massive success both by the general public and the political pundits, and why wouldn't it be.
The programme brought the State leadership and the citizenry closest perhaps in the last three decades, the public were able to witness the extraordinary humbleness of the very man who was elected to lead them thus shedding out the doubts implanted in their mind through the fake narrative of Oppositions. It is safe to say that the majority has now connected to the State leadership in both emotional and political levels.

The success of the outreach programme can be fathomed by the sudden resurgence of Oppositions and their desperate attempt to discredit the initiative.

The meet with Hon'ble Party President has also been a major booster for the party workers and has helped soar the confidence in them. This renewed zeal and enthusiasm among the party cadre will surely help strengthen the organisation and pave the way for a comfortable win in the General election next year.

Myopic vision of Mr Chamling was seen when he instigated a mass sterilization programme for the local population during the turn of this century. A short sighted programme just to earn some applause from the few agencies and NGOs. A state with already negligible population and low growth rate , the horrible effect of sterilization programme is now slowly becoming visible and is on the road to change the traditional population demography.
The ethnic population is now suffering from a low fertility rate and has directly effected the growth rate among the locals which has dropped below zero to the negative in some places.

Now, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha led Sikkim Government under the visionary leadership of HCM Shree Prem Singh Golay acknowledged the problem and announced Vatsalya Scheme for the mothers unable to conceive. The scheme helps with the aid of Rs.3 lakhs to childless mother for IVF treatment.

My leader doesn't ridicule the menstrual cycle of women, neither does he talks about it with devilish grin and demonic laughter. My leader addressed the biological phenomena which is still considered taboo in our rural area and launched the bahini scheme.

With an aim to equip unemployed Mother's (Aama) of Sikkim belonging to economically weaker sections of society, the State Government under the pragmatic leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri PS Golay had announced SIKKIM AAMA SASHAKTIKARAN YOJNA Scheme in April 2022 and subsequently this year 14,000 mothers from the State will be provided rupees twenty thousand each.

To empower and encourage our women to come forward in contractual work women contractors are now allowed to bid for the contractual work upto five crore without TDR.

Hon’ble Apex Court deleted all the references to Nepali of Sikkimese origin as foreigners and/or migrants in its Judgment dt. 13-01-2023.

It also clarified that the Judgment did not touch upon Article 371F of the Constitution of India which grants special status to Sikkim. This will be a historic achievement for Sikkim.

We are obliged to our Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Respected Shri Narendra Modi Ji under whose visionary leadership, Hon’ble Home Minister of India Respected Shri Amit Shah Ji held our hand, expressed solidarity, and supported us.

I must thank the Hon’ble Law Minister of India Respected Shri Kiren Rijiju Ji for his unflinching support to every cause of Sikkim. His easy accessibility, warmth, and response are always reassuring.
