Milan's triumph continued when they clinched their first European Super Cup by beating Barcelona. The team's intercontinental success followed shortly after, as they beat Atletico Nacional in the Intercontinental Cup on December 17, 1989. 🏅🌍

While Marco Van Basten scored an impressive 19 goals to become the top scorer in the league, unfortunately, his efforts weren't enough to win the scudetto, as Diego Maradona's Napoli claimed the title. 🥅😔

S.S.C Napoli, home, 1989/90:

Diego Armando Maradona is the first name that comes to mind when thinking about Napoli's most successful years. He captained the team to their second league title during the 1989/89 campaign, under the management of Alberto Bigon. Maradona was an instrumental figure, scoring an impressive 16 goals and providing 10 assists throughout the season.

However, the following campaign of 1990/91 did not start well for Napoli, as Maradona failed a drug test and was unable to play for the club again. Despite subsequent efforts, Napoli has yet to win another league title since that historic victory.

But now, the team is once again in the running for the 22/23 season. Currently, they are leading the title race and are on the verge of clinching it. Fans are hopeful that this could be the season that Napoli finally claims another league title.

The passion and loyalty of Napoli fans have been a constant source of inspiration for the team throughout their history, and they will undoubtedly continue to be so in the future. With the legacy of great players like Maradona and the support of their devoted fans, Napoli is ready to rise once again to the top of Italian football. !

Saint-Etienne: home, 1980/81
AS Saint-Etienne dominated French football during the 1970s, winning four league titles, three French cups, and a European title between 1973 and 1981. At that time, Paris Saint-Germain was just starting out as a club.

The 1980/81 season was particularly memorable for AS Saint-Etienne, as they clinched their last French league title to date. The team was led by manager Robert Herbin and captain Michel Platini.

However, since then, the club has struggled and been relegated four times from Ligue 1. The club's most significant achievement since 1981 was winning the Coupe de la Ligue in 2013, but the fans continue to believe that their team will one day reclaim its former glory and become a powerhouse again.

Currently, AS Saint-Etienne is in 15th place in Ligue 2, with a total of 30 points. But the fans continue to support their team and hope that they will once again reach their former greatness.
