*RotaVision - A Community Eye Health Program - 29th August 2024 at Soureni Bazar*

Organised by:
*Rotary Club of Siliguri & Rotary Club of Siliguri Medics in collaboration with Essilor Luxottica Foundation*

We had the opportunity to be a centre point of three Tea Gardens namely, Soureni T.E. , Phugri T.E. and Tingling. The camp was organised at Soureni Community Hall, allowing ample space for the patients to sit. We distributed sunglasses to all the patients registered. The details of all the patients were noted for free distribution of spectacles in the near future. We ensured that each patient’s details were recorded for follow-up and free distribution of spectacles. Our club assured to carry out free cataract surgery for those diagnosed with the same.
A Total of 181 patients were diagnosed. Out of which maximum were prescribed power glasses. 9 patients were prescribed with cataract surgery. And some were referred to Eye Hospital for further treatment.

Rotary Club of Siliguri had it's 57th Club Installation meeting on Sunday, 21 July in the Rotary Hall, Pradhan Nagar where Rotarian Nitesh Agarwal took Charge as the new President of the club along with Club Secretary Rotarian Arvind Soni with his new team.
The meeting was graced by Chief Guest Mr Manas Bhattacharya (Former Indian Football Player) & Guest of Honour was Rotarian Sumit Goyal (Assistant Governor, Zone 6, District 3240).

Immediate Past President Rotarian Ajit Kumar Thakur thanked all members for supporting throughout the year and Past Secretary Pulkit Bansal Gave his Secretrial Report for Rotary Year 2023-24.

Rotary Club of Siliguri is actively involved in serving the mankind since last 56 years and is committed to continue doing good in Siliguri through its permanent project Blood Centre, free cataract surgery and various social projects.

*Free Wheelchair Distribution for Physically challenged Individuals*

In a heartwarming move aimed at enhancing the quality of life for physically challenged individuals, the Rotary Club of Siliguri has taken an initiative for free distribution of wheelchair.
The distribution program, which took place at Uday School, Farabari Complex, Nepali Basti, Siliguri witnessed the participation of various dignitaries, healthcare professionals, and volunteers dedicated to supporting the specially abled community.

The program was presided by Rotary Siliguri Club President Rotarian Ajit Kumar Thakur. Club handed over 1 wheelchair to individuals in the said area. ( Total 05 pieces has been distributed till date)
This initiative is taken in association of Rotary 3240 District under Rotary Foundation Grant number DG2459779 to improve accessibility and mobility for those with specially people ensuring they can lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

The distribution program, which took place at Hatigisha, Rambolatote, Near Siliguri, witnessed the participation of various dignitaries, healthcare professionals, and volunteers dedicated to supporting the specially abled community.

The program was presided by Rotary Siliguri Club President Rotarian Ajit Kumar Thakur in presence of other Rotary members, Sushil Kumar Dubey, Manoj Kumar and Raj kumar Prasad, Club handed over 2 wheelchairs to individuals in the said area.
This initiative us taken in association of Rotary 3240 District under Rotary Foundation Grant number DG2459779 to improve accessibility and mobility for those with specially people ensuring they can lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

Rotary Club Siliguri organised Free Eye Screening Camp in association with Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Netralaya under our Ongoing Permanent Project ‘Dhristi Daan ‘at Jharujote village, Naxalbari today dated 28.01.2024 where 50 people were screened in which 20 patients were finalised for Cataract Operations.

Our Club will arrange for Cataract Operation soon.

Guwahati 8th Jan 2024 – The Rotary International District 3240 proudly announces the successful conclusion of its 34th District Conference, "CONFERO," held over three impactful days under the dynamic leadership of District Governor Rotarian Nilesh Kumar Agarwal and Conference Chairman Rotarian Sunil Patni.
The inaugural session of the conference was graced by the esteemed presence of the Governor of Assam, His Excellency Shri Gulab Chand Kataria. In his address, Governor Kataria praised the commendable activities and initiatives undertaken by Rotary International, emphasizing the organization's commitment to service and community development.
Highlighting the exceptional contributions in the fields of literacy and education, the Rotary Service Excellence Award was conferred upon Akshar Forum. This recognition underscores their outstanding efforts in advancing literacy and education within the community. Additionally, the award was extended to Dr. R. Ravi Kannan, a distinguished surgical oncologist and the Director of Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Silchar. Dr. Kannan's relentless dedication to medicine and healthcare aligns with Rotary's focus on improving health outcomes and access to quality care.
The conference witnessed a remarkable turnout of close to 1100 delegates from various parts of North East, Sikkim and Parts of West Bengal. The attendees were treated to a wealth of knowledge and inspiration through engaging sessions led by eminent speakers and social reformers. Notable figures included Dr. Gnanvatsal Swami from BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, Shri Temjen Imna Along, the Tourism and Education Minister of Nagaland, and other distinguished speakers and performers.
District Governor Rotarian Nilesh Kumar Agarwal expressed his gratitude towards all the participants, patrons and organizers for making CONFERO a resounding success. He highlighted the conference's role in fostering collaboration, sharing ideas, and promoting Rotary's core values of service above self.
Conference Chairman Rotarian Sunil Patni echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in driving positive change within communities. He applauded the dedication of Rotary members and the impactful projects showcased during the conference.

Today in a program at Hardy Ramanujan Public School, Charter presentation of the newly formed Interact Club of Hardy Ramanujan Public School ,sponsored by Rotary club Of Siliguri dist-3240 took place , signifying a significant step towards community engagement and service. It witnessed the induction of the club's President Wilson Chettri and Secretary Baisnavi Upadhayay ,Treasurer Mahima Barman and STG Alok Sah, marking the official beginning of their tenure.

The event was presided by Rotary Assistant governor (zone 8)Rtn Shiv Shankar Sarkar, President of Rotary club Of Siliguri Rtn Ajit Kumar Thakur, District Interact Committee Chair Rtn Ankit Agarwal and member, Rtn. Anurag Bayanwala.
The guests delivered a motivational address, emphasizing the importance of young individuals actively participating in community service and the positive impact such clubs can have on society.

Guest speakers of the sponsoring Rotary Club, commended the school's initiative and praised the potential of the Interact Club to make a meaningful difference. The event started with the traditional lighting of a ceremonial lamp,and a opening dance, symbolizing the club's official inauguration and the beginning of a journey filled with service projects and acts of kindness.

The program concluded with a skit based on creating awareness on Mental health.

Rotaract Club of Siliguri successfully hosted DRR VISIT 2023 on 27.05.2023 at Rotary Hall, Pradhan Nagar,Siliguri in the presence of DRR RTN Sandip Das, PDRR RTN Ankit Agarwal, Rtn Pulkit Bansal along with the members of club. Rtn Ankit Agarwal also inducted new member in club RTR Ankita Kothari. During the Visit DRR examined the Properties of Club. And interactive session was done.
