Srinagar Police organises Drug de-addiction camp

Srinagar 27 March 2024: In an ongoing effort to combat the growing issue of drug abuse among the youth, Police in police zone Hazratbal Srinagar organised a drug de-addiction awareness programme.
The enlightening awareness programme for youth especially students, citizens, was
organised by District Police Srinagar,Zone Hazratbal at Govt Women's Degree College Batpora .
Distinguished members of the Police inclded SP Hazratbal, Hilal Khaliq Bhat,JKPS ,SDPO Zakoora Ashiq Hussain , Javaid Khan SHO PS Nigeen spoke on the occassion. SP Hazratbal Hilal khaliq gave a very encouraging speech based upon his expertise and he gave valuable insights on various facets of drug addiction.
SHO Javid Khan while leading a very fruitful engaging secession with the youth he provided essential knowledge to recognize the symptoms of drug abuse and offering guidance on appropriate initial responses.
To boost the morale of the youth, students from Women's Degree College Batpora . Cultural programmes,skits,dramas were also performed by the students.
Cash prizes of Rs 5000 for the 1st position,3000 for the 2nd position ,2000 for the 3rd position were given to the students. Moreover ,Rs 3000 to 1st position ,Rs.2000 to the 2nd position of the cultural programme performers,momentoes/ certificates to the participants jurry members and consolation prizes were also distributed in the event.

J&K Apni Party Senior Vice-president Srinagar Expresses Anguish Over Erratic Power Supply in Habba Kadal Constituency Amid Ramadan Month

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Senior Vice-president Srinagar & Constituency Incharge Habba Kadal Jeelani Hamid Kumar on Wednesday expressed deep resentment over the erratic power supply in Habba Kadal constituency amid ongoing holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued here, the Apni Party leader said that the Habba Kadal inhabitants have been facing great inconveniences due to erratic power supply. "There are electricity issues prevailing in the area, especially during Suhoor and Iftari."

"Even as the people see the pesky power schedule, they on the other hand receive hefty power bills," he said adding, the authorities should ensure uninterrupted power supply and also consider covering the poor households under amnesty scheme to lighten their burden.

The Apni Party leader has in the meantime also urged SMC authorities to install ample number of street lights in the Habba Kadal area to facilitate the hassle free movement of the public during evening and night hours.

People of Gulmarg hail the ardous efforts of CEO Gulmarg Wasim Raja who made incessant efforts by using his men and machinery to clear snow.
Due to continuous heavy snowfall, roads were getting blocked again in Gulmarg but to provide hassle-free movement to tourists and locals, GDA machines were deployed to clear main roads, inner roads including market places to ensure hassle-free moment to toursits. Sting operation reveals how shikara owners openly overcharge tourists.

Shikara owners openly overcharge toursits at Ghat no 2 in kashmir's famous Nigeen Lake. With no fixed rates a sting operation reveals how this mafia openly overcharges tourists for ferrying them from Ghat no 2 to houseboats. In the video they can be heard saying " we charge between 300 to 400 Rs," While the government fixed rate is 100 Rs for ferrying them to other side which is not even 5 minute ride, these shikara owners charge Rs 400 to Rs 1200 as per the houseboat owners and tourists. If tourists refuse to pay they threaten them of dire consequences. When the reporter questions them about the government rate, they too thratned him saying go to police station.

Shikara riders is charging exorbitant fares to tourists, spark anger among tourists and houseboat owners. As per government rate system , the rate for the Shikara ride in Dal Lake/ Nigeen lake has been fixed at Rs 700 per hour for three kilometres with Rs 400 for every extra hour. For ferrying tourists from ghats to houseboats rate between 50-100 Rs has been fixed.

Police books 03 notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla

Baramulla Oct 20: Acting tough against drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police booked three most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.

The three most wanted and notorious drug smugglers namely Musadiq Afzal Masoodi @ Vicky son of Mohd Afzal of Pampore Pulwama, Mohd Shafi Hajam son of Nazir Ahmad of Wanigam Bala & Gh Hassan Ganie son of Gh Rasool of Trikanjan Boniyar have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.

Pertinent to mention that many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla, Uri, Pattan Boniyar & other areas of District Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIR's they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.

General public of Baramulla appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers. Baramulla Police consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that Baramulla police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.

SRINAGAR: After a gr***de was hurled at a on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, panic gripped Nud area of Jammu’s Samba district after, police said.

A police official told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer that an explosion took place in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday and later it was found that a gr***de was hurled towards police naka at Nud area on Samba-Mansar road.
