UILS Concludes Week-Long Induction Programme for BA LL.B (Hons.) Batch 2025–30
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mahavir Singh and Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajinder Verma Addressed New Entrants
The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Himachal Pradesh University, Ava-Lodge, successfully concluded a week-long induction programme for the newly admitted students of the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) batch 2025–30. The programme aimed to introduce first-year law students to the academic environment, institutional values, and professional responsibilities that define the legal discipline.
The inaugural session, held on July 28, was graced by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, Prof. Mahavir Singh, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Singh highlighted the growing relevance of interdisciplinary approaches in legal education, pointing to the increasing intersection of law with technology, data science, and environmental issues. He encouraged the students to become socially responsible, ethically grounded legal professionals, and advised them to lead disciplined, substance-free lives rooted in academic integrity and a sense of public purpose.
The programme concluded on August 2 with an inspiring address by Prof. Rajinder Verma, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University and Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur, who served as the Chief Guest on the final day. Prof. Verma congratulated UILS for successfully organizing the induction programme and motivated the new batch of students to explore their full potential during their stay on campus. He urged them to embrace learning opportunities, remain goal-oriented, and make meaningful contributions to society through their legal education.
Prof. Shiv Kumar Dogra, Director of UILS, expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the resource persons for sharing their insights and experiences with the students. He also extended his best wishes to the newly admitted batch, encouraging them to make the most of their time at UILS. Prof. Dogra congratulated the entire faculty team for the successful coordination and ex*****on of the induction programme, acknowledging their dedication and collaborative efforts.
Throughout the week, students attended sessions led by a range of eminent resource persons. Brigadier Sanjay Kanoth of the Indian Army delivered a powerful lecture on national service, sharing his experiences from Operation Sindoor and emphasizing the values of courage, discipline, and patriotism. Prof. Mamta Mokta, Dean of Students and Faculty Welfare, spoke on emotional wellness, stress management, and the importance of cultivating inner discipline in demanding academic environments. Dr. Akanksha Sood, Professor of Psychology, guided students through themes of mindfulness, resilience, and curiosity beyond textbooks. Prof. (Dr.) Nitin Vyas of the Department of Vocational Science explored India's cultural and spiritual heritage, urging students to reject substance abuse and instead channel their energies into community-building and self-development. Prof. B. K. Shivram, Dean of Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, delivered an academic session that encouraged classroom engagement, intellectual curiosity, and active implementation of the New Education Policy in spirit and practice. Additionally, a wellness session by noted yoga instructor Mr. Suresh Sharma provided students with practical insights into healthy living, stress relief, and mental clarity through yogic practices and nutritional awareness.
The convenors of the induction programme, Dr. Veena Chandel along with Dr. Geetanjli Thapar, Dr. Ritika Rana, Dr. Sangeeta Verma, Dr. Priyam and other faculty members of UILS, also actively participated in the programme and contributed to its smooth ex*****on and academic success
