National Moot Court Competition Concludes at HPUILS, Shimla
The Late Shri Kashmir Singh Memorial National Moot Court Competition, organized by the Himachal Pradesh University Institute of Legal Studies (HPUILS), Shimla, concluded successfully after three days of intense legal deliberations.
Law School Bahra University emerged as the winner, while Dogra Law College, Jammu, secured the second position. Arpita Gautam from UILS, Panjab University, was adjudged Best Mooter, while the Best Memorial award went to Campus Law Centre, Delhi University. Parvi Mittal from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, was declared Best Researcher.
The winning team received a cash prize of ₹21,000, the runner-up team ₹11,000, and the Best Mooter, Best Memorial, and Best Researcher were each awarded ₹5,000 along with certificates of merit.
The competition drew participation from 24 teams and 70 students representing leading law institutions across the country.
Hon’ble Justice Sushil Kukreja of the Himachal Pradesh High Court graced the valedictory ceremony as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, he emphasized that the legal profession is filled with opportunities and urged aspiring advocates to pursue their careers with sincerity, dedication, and integrity.
Senior Advocate Naresh Thakur, the Guest of Honour, encouraged students to view participation as more valuable than winning or losing, stressing the importance of experiential learning in legal education.
Prof. Shiv Kumar Dogra, Director of HPUILS, congratulated all participants and commended the faculty and organizing committee for the successful conduct of the event.
Coordinator Dr. Veena Kumari expressed that hosting 70 law students from across India was an honour for the institute, adding that every academic competition goes beyond victory or defeat.
The final round was judged by eminent legal professionals including Senior Advocates Naresh Thakur and Piyush Verma, Bar Association President Haminder Chandel, and Prof. Runa Mehta.
Convener Dr. Sangeeta Thakur, Organizing Secretary Dr. Aniket Sharma, and all faculty members of HPUILS were also present during the event.
