Naya Jammu Kashmir Short Film Making Contest: DIPR declares winners
Winners selected by eminent Bollywood filmakers

SRINAGAR, JUNE 28: Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) today declared the winners of ‘Naya Jammu Kashmir Short Film Making Competition — an initiative to promote local talent and showcase the development in J&K.

The entries for the contest were shortlisted and judged by the jury comprising renowned Bollywood filmmakers Padma Shri Madhur Bhandarkar and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.

Outstanding well crafted “Melting Stones” by Ompal Singh Sambyal secured the top rank in the contest followed by Sandeep Bhagal’s "I am Valmiki" and Sumaiya Mir’s "Women Athletes of Kashmir" clinching the second and third place respectively. The consolation prize winners include Atul Vinod Duggal for "Viksit Jammu Kashmir", Irtizah Yousuf and Mantasha Binti Zahoor for "Naya Kashmir" and Raghunandan Singh Charak for "Unicorn".

The selected films, showcasing the talent and creativity of the artists from Jammu and Kashmir, will be screened shortly.

Director Information and Public Relations, Jatin Kishore, congratulated the winners and the other participants of the completion. He also expressed gratitude towards the jury members for shortlisting and selecting the outstanding productions.

With this, the hugely successful and unique initiative of the Department of Information and Public Relations concluded on a very positive note.

The initiative was aimed at identifying local talent, encouraging them and giving them a platform to showcase their unique skills and immense potential to the fullest. The competition also envisaged showcasing of the positive developments and progress achieved in Jammu and Kashmir through the lens of local filmmakers.

DGP J&K POLICE DECORATED 09 SPOs’ TO THE RANK OF CONSTABLE IN SAIDA SOHAL HIRANAGAR ENCOUNTER.

Kathua; 28 June:- DGP J&K Police Sh. R R Swain IPS today decorated 09 SPOs’ and converted them as Constable in a ceremonial function at DPL Kathua in presence of their family members and prominent citizens of District Kathua. Recongnising their bravery and fearlessness to eliminate the enemy, these SPOs’ have been converted to Constables on operational grounds during the Saida Sohal, Hiranagar Encounter in which 02 PAK based Terriorists were successfully eliminated.

The worthy DGP J&K Police further stated that "The courage and professionalism exhibited by these police personnel during the encounter was exemplary even when they were temporary members of J&K police. These promotions are a testament to their valor and dedication.Now as these Police personnel became the permanent members of J&k Police, this will encourage the Kathua Police especially SOG Kathua & SPOs and boost their moral during such operations and encountering ANEs and other hardcore criminals. SHRD Public School Celebrates 10th international Yoga Day

In order to create awareness among students, staff and common masses SHRD Public School, Phallian Mandal organized a live yoga session to mark 10th edition of “International Yoga Day” in its school premises. The event began with the singing of National Anthem after which warm up exercises were taken up. Students of grade I to X demonstrated various yog asanas practiced & performed sitting and standing asanas, importance of these were explained simultaneously. Special guest Sant Hare Ram Dass Maharaj Ji, Chairman, Shri Shiv Mandir Nyas Trust and Managing Director of the school in his opening address shared the benefits of practicing Yoga in everyday life and highlighted its potential in keeping ourselves disciplined and focused. Justice Sanjiv Khanna inaugurates 10th international Yoga Day at High Court, Srinagar
SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: The 10th International Yoga Day-2024, the theme of which for the current year is “Yoga for Self and Society” an event was inaugurated by the Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Judge, Supreme Court of India in the High Court premises at Srinagar.
Likewise, a programme was held at High Court Complex Jammu which was led by Justice Rahul Bharti, Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh.
The event was attended by Chief Justice, Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Justice Sanjay Dhar, Justice Mohd. Yousuf Wani in presence of Registrar General, Pr. Secretary to Chief Justice, Registrar Vigilance, Registrar Rules, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, Registrar IT, Registrar Judicial, Srinagar/Jammu, Secretary, High Court Legal Services Committee, Joint Registrars (Judicial/Protocol), Srinagar/Jammu and other officers of the registry of both the wings of the High Court besides staff of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.
Similar programmes were held in all the Subordinate Courts of UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh wherein a large number of participants performed Yog Asnas alongwith Yog instructors who also described their importance and impact on the flexibility of human body and mind.
Justice Sanjiv Khanna, laid emphasis on all the participants to include Yoga in their daily life to remain physically and mentally fit besides relieving themselves from stressful life. His Lordship also highlighted that making yoga a way of life would go a long way in the discharge of judicial functions and enhancing the efficiency and efficacy of not only the judicial officers but also all the stakeholders.

PM Modi Arrives in Srinagar, Attends Programme at SKICC

Srinagar 20 June Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Srinagar on Thursday evening and attended the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.

PM Modi, after arriving in Srinagar, headed SKICC to address youth in the “Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ programme.

The Prime Minister will participate in the 10th International Day of Yoga event at SKICC in Srinagar tomorrow at around 6.30 AM. He will also address the gathering on the occasion and take part in the CYP Yoga session thereafter.

The premier will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 84 major developmental projects valued at more than Rs. 1,500 crore.

He is also going to launch the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture & Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project worth Rs. 1,800 crore. The project will be implemented in 90 Blocks across 20 districts of J&K and will have the project outreach of 300,000 households covering 15 lakh beneficiaries.

*Man who went Missing with AK-47 rifle in Doda held*

Srinagar, June 19 :- A man who went missing along with AK-47 rifle of a Special Police Officer (SPO) in Trown area of Doda district on Tuesday evening has been held.

A top police officer told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a man identified as Muhammad Rafi, a resident of Trown near Pranoo has been held in his native district.

"He was coming from Bhella towards his village and was accompanied by a Special Police Officer who was carrying the weapon. When reached Pul Doda, the SPO Safdar Hussain deboarded the vehicle to buy some essentials and in the meantime Rafi fled in his car alongwith the rifle.

The vehicle was recovered near Jagota area of Bhalla but neither Rafi nor the weapon was present in the vehicle," he

Soon after the incident, searches were started and he was apprehend, he said.

Exam: Training program for supervisory staff held in Reasi
REASI, JUNE 19: To ensure the fair and transparent conduct of the upcoming OMR- based Written Test for the post of Supervisor in the Social Welfare Department, the District Administration Reasi, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB), organized a comprehensive training session for the supervisory staff today.
The training was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner Complex, Reasi, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Mahajan. The primary aim of the session was to sensitize the Center Superintendents, Deputy Superintendents, and Invigilation staff about the critical importance of adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and examination regulations.
During the training, key aspects of the examination process were discussed in detail to ensure that the staff is well-versed in the necessary steps to maintain the integrity of the examination. The session underscored the importance of transparency and fairness throughout the examination process.
Atul Gupta, Member of JKSSB, emphasized the significance of the training, aiming to familiarize the supervisory staff with the standard procedures and protocols. He highlighted the necessity for complete transparency and fairness to uphold the credibility of the selection process.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for meticulous preparation and instructed all concerned officials to ensure that all arrangements are in place well ahead of the examination date. This includes the provision of essential amenities such as drinking water, proper seating arrangements, and medical facilities at all examination centers.
2721 female candidates are expected to appear in the examination, which will be conducted across 9 centers in Reasi district on June 23, 2024. ADC Kulbhushan Khajuria, ACR Anshumali Sharma, CEO, DIO (Info) and other officers were present.

JAMMU/SAMBA/KATHUA, JUNE 19: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today visited Yatri Facilitation Centre Lakhanpur while also inspected the status of National Highway from Jammu to Lakhanpur. He took stock of arrangements for smooth transition of Shri Amarnathji Yatra- 2024 from Gateway of JK UT, Lakhanpur, enroute Jammu.
The Div Com accompanied by Project Director NHAI and SSP Traffic rural took first hand appraisal of the works being executed on the National Highway in Jammu, Samba and Kathua. He directed the concerned officials to ensure smooth road surface for hassle free movement of vehicles on the NH.
The Div Com further asked the concerned District officials and SSP Traffic Rural to identify the spots prone to jams and deploy men and machinery in the respective districts for preventing any hindrance to smooth traffic movement.
At Lakhanpur, the Divisional Commissioner was briefed by Deputy Commissioner Kathua about the facilities and amenities being set up for the Yatris entering Lakhanpur by road.
The Divisional Commissioner said that the Administration has made elaborate arrangements for a warm welcome and comfortable stay of the Yatris. RFID centres besides an adequate number of Bathrooms, Toilets, Drinking Water booths are being set up. Arrangements are also being made for 24x7 Langar facilities for the Yatris.
As many as 12 RFID counters are being established at Lakhanpur to facilitate smooth registration of the Yatris. All the vital areas, besides Langar and Lodgememt Centres, are equipped with CCTV surveillance to ensure security of the Yatris, it was informed.
The Div Com appealed people, especially owners of commercial establishments, to install CCTV for proper surveillance especially on National Highway.
The Div Com also took on spot review of the Bridge over Tarnah Nallah which is nearing completion. He took detailed review of the road connectivity scenario wherein directions were passed to undertake surface improvement at identified spots.
