Shyam Chand Bagdi has been showing the light of propaganda to others continuously from the background. Currently he is a resident of Rampurhat old hospital para, Birbhum neighborhood but his original home is Majigram. As a child, he was attracted to writing after hearing the rhymes of Lakshmi Panchali and textbooks from his mother Sarmadevi. Since then, he has also been heard to recite two or four lines by mouth in sync with panchali-rhyme. While doing that, at the age of 13, he wrote a whole poem 'Our World'. The poem was also published in a souvenir of a local club called 'Uttarayan'. Since then he got addicted to writing. He is primarily a poet and essayist. But equally comfortable in various other sections of literature. Several scholarly books have already been published including 'History of Rampurhat', 'History and Literary Studies of Radha Birbhum' etc. He also edited some books on field studies including 'Birbhum District History'. For a long time he ran a printing and publishing company besides editing a quarterly literary magazine called 'Kanchidesh'. On that occasion, Anathabandhu Bhattacharya, Amalendu Chakraborty, Shankarlal Roy, among others, have brought the literary works of many literary workers behind the scenes to the readers. Edited an audio CD of poetry readings by 10 poets of the district named 'Swarab'. He also formed an organization called 'Rampurhat History Research Committee' for field research. At different times teenagers Ranjan Das, Jagadish Roy, Arnab Majumder, Kanchan Sarkar, A. Mannaf, Shankarlal Roy, Kabirul Islam, Ranjit Bagh, Animesh Chattopadhyay and others got the opportunity to get close to literary workers. He received the 'Saraswat' award from the Academy of Bengali Poetry in 2009 for his literary work. And won the 'Kavya Bharati' award given by the Indira Sahitya Patrika of India-Bangladesh Joint Art-Literature Coordination in Kolkata of 2022.
