On the Jammu Srinagar National Highway, the traffic police, SSP Traffic Rohit Basgotra and DSP Jitendra Singh and their team set up a special check post and made the drivers aware about cleaning the glass, driving with company fitted lights and not to use any other light in addition to that. It was said that due to additional lights, the drivers coming from the other side face problems and sometimes they even get into trouble. In such a situation, additional lights should not be installed. During this, the additional lights installed on some vehicles went out and they were also challaned.

Five dead, two critically injured in Kargil road accident
Yesterday 14 January Five persons lost their lives and two others sustained critical injuries in a tragic accident involving a Scorpio and a tipper at Shilikchey area of Kargil district on Tuesday.
A Scorpio bearing registration number UP79A -1150 and the tipper (JK02AD-5118) collided with each other on causing both vehicles to plunge into a deep gorge.

The Z-Morh Tunnel is a 6.5 km, two-lane road tunnel connecting Gagangair to Sonamarg in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, northern India. Its name derives from the Z-shaped stretch of road it replaces ("Z-Morh" means "Z-turn" in English). Previously, the road was prone to avalanches and would often be blocked during winter due to heavy snowfall. The tunnel now ensures all-weather connectivity to the Sonamarg tourist town. Travel through the tunnel takes just 15 minutes, significantly reducing the time compared to the hours it took to navigate the zig-zag road over the hills.
