Lieutenant General Malik Agar in a statement:

I call on the affected communities in both Sudan and South Sudan to remain calm, despite the understandable emotions, and to avoid being drawn into acts of retaliation.

The Sudanese government agencies have issued firm denials and condemnations, decrying the unjustified barbaric attacks that have claimed the lives of innocent people in Madani.

The perpetrators will be interrogated and brought to justice and accountability.

The Sudanese government values the swift intervention of the South Sudanese government to protect the lives of Sudanese civilians attributed to the spontaneous widespread incidents that occurred in Madani.

No one should take the law into their own hands.

If we had effective leadership, we wouldn't have been forced to flee our country, South Sudan, and seek asylum in various parts of the world. Instead, we would have been able to settle and live in peace, security, and with access to basic necessities like food, despite the country's underdevelopment due to years of conflict.

JUST IN: The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, H.E. Simon Ober Mawut, visited the Wedweil refugee camp.

The governor of NBGs visited Wedweil camp, Aweil West County amidst nationwide protests by South Sudanese citizens condemning the atrocities k!lling of South Sudanese civilians by the Sudanese Armed Forces in Wad Medani, Al Gezira State, Sudan.

During his visit, Governor Ober ordered the deployment of organized forces around the refugee settlement camp to ensure the safety and security of the refugees.

Addressing the refugees, Governor Mawut called on Sudanese traders and refugees living in Northern Bahr el Ghazal to remain calm as the state government takes swift measures to address the situation.

He also urged the citizens of Northern Bahr el Ghazal to refrain from retaliation and looting of property, emphasizing that the Sudanese traders and refugees residing in the state are also victims of the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
