Emily In Paris has had me hooked since the first episode. The plot, the drama and the aesthetics... they're all so extra, I love it!
While the show has some highly unrealistic scenarios, there are some merits too. And while the show is a gold mine for fashion inspiration, it did bring some marketing tips too. So here's a post on some of the things I liked about the marketing in Emily in Paris.
Hope you enjoy reading them. Merci!

To the one who’s more human, more cat and more a kid than she is a dog. The favourite Dhruv girl. The princess of the house. The girl who turned 4 today.

A Modern Look at Vintage Spaces

Feature 1: Marzorin, Pune

Famous for its Chutney Sandwich, this cafe sits overlooking the ever-bustling M. G. Road. It has distinctive vintage look with its semi-domed windows which are noticed by every passerby on the street.

An old cafe that has used every nook and cranny of the counter hall to display their menu, this place has also modern one-bowl meals and vegan options. It’s wonderful how the small tables and narrow walkways still give you an illusion of your own space in the busy cafe.

What has remained constant, is the taste of its food and the time people spend here and the conversations they share.

This was my modern look at the vintage space of Marzorin.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
There was a time when I could eat everything sweet, especially chocolate all day every day and could never have enough of it. This should’ve been around the time when I was 5 or six…..

Fast forward 5 years and Dosa became the go-to thing… it was always cheese dosa and I would ONLY have it with chutney and hated sambar. Even idlis were always turned down no matter how they were presented. Again, I could have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Yet another five years later everything was about junk food, street food and mainly Chinese and chaat. As someone who had never liked hot beverages, I found comfort in coffee.

And then at age of 20… When I came to college, Idli sambar became a staple breakfast and lemon tea became an alarm in a cup. I can no more eat something extra sweet. Home-cooked dishes that I was averse to, eventually became comfort food. There are so many dishes that grew over me. Maybe I acquired taste or maybe I grew up … who knows?

STEPPING BACK AND LOOKING AT THE BIG PICTURE

An important part of staying productive is knowing exactly how much time you need to give something and more importantly when. This becomes especially important when work seems endless but isn't. It's needed when things start to pile up - not the large things - the small ones here and there. It's important when you've worked enough and need a break but a beeline of tasks keeps coming your way.
There goes a saying 'Kal kare so aaj kar, aaj kare so ab', here I'm saying exactly the opposite. If you can get the job done in 10 mins, and if it needs to be done by a certain time tomorrow, do it about 20 mins before that time tomorrow. Because the more in advance you try to do it, the more time you end up spending. And when there's a heap of seemingly endless work, it might actually become endless.
In times like these, I remind myself that I don't have to do it right now, that I am not obliged to check messages and answer the emails the moment they come in. Only rare tasks need immediate attention and when they do, I need to be able to step up. But until then, I need to step back, take a breath, clear my head and look at the bigger picture to tackle the devil in the details better.
