Puneri Paltan recorded their sixth victory in a row beating the U.P. Yoddhas 40-31 in front of their home crowd at the last home game for U.P. Yoddhas at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Wednesday. Mohammadreza Chiyaneh's brilliant defensive nous saw him log 7 points as captain Aslam Inamdar took 11 to keep his team at the top of the table.

CEO of Puneri Paltan was excited to talk with the team.
He also added, "Our eyes should in two directions, one in the present and the other in the future, we hope that you all [team] stay with us for four or five seasons and do something great"
Anyone from corporate coming to speak with the team is a good sign, that means that the owners are aware of how to run a sports team, maybe players won't be encouraged beyond what they already are, but these visits and chat lets them know that the team is in safe hands and that they need to now respond back with good performances.

Paltan training and why they do it?
Swimming pool training in beneficial to the joints as only 25% of weight is carried by the body if you are neck deep and there is less stress on the joints.
Due to the pressure inside the water, movement takes extra energy, which helps in endurance and stamina.
Cardio is of course done to increase overall lung capacity, but it also helps in maintain body weight and burn off extra calories.
And lastly some warm-up pictures were posted, muscles are loosened up offering more flexibility before the actual game simulation practice.
Kabaddi is a very physical sport so being ready before a long season is very important to avoid injuries. Paltan will begin their campaign against Jaipur Pink Panthers on December 4.

I bet you did not that there is an official badminton tournament for veterans right here in Pune.
That's right, the Poona District and Metropolitan Badminton association organises a ranking tournament, meaning they give official ranks to players after the results in Pune every year.
Of course I spoke with some of the players, who were all above the age of 45.
What the hell are you even doing here, why are you playing sports when you should rest on a bed and watch TV?
Avadhut Joshi, 60, said "I used to play all kinds of sports when I was young, there are so many benefits to playing sports, your minds stays so fresh and you learn so much"
Another veteran Mr.Atul, 58, said "If I don't play on a day, I become anxious, such is my love for sports, and badminton is an easy game, you get two players and a small space and you start playing"
"I haven't had a major illness in decades due to playing the sport, even in Covid I had to travel because my mother was not well, but nothing really happened to me", he added
Another gentleman Mr.Javed said "It becomes a habit at old age and that helps in managing your mental health, you are distracted, chances of depression is low"
About the tournament - It is an official tournament, that took place during the weekend of 4th and 5th Nov. There were 50 odd players and all of them looked energetic and ready to play!
You feel old when you visit places like these, but they do exists, you see people all around enjoying themselves and also caring about their fitness. This story should serve as a motivation to anyone who feels its too late to start playing. Work, family, friends all that will always be a priority but that does not mean you don't go outside give some time to yourself.

Now, you can never say Pune does not have a club you can support!
Pune supplies plenty of Manchester Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barca fans to Europe, and if you are one of them, try to zoom in more and look at teams playing the third or fourth tier football in Europe.
Luton, or Union Berlin, or Wrexham or Plymouth or even Punjab FC in ISL all have one thing in common, they have an incredible journey of promotions through the football pyramid.
They all started their journey somewhere, and you, being a Punekar, are standing at that "somewhere" for many clubs, the first step of having an incredible sporting story.
Support local football club you like, watch the games, follow them on socials, or just spread the word, who knows, perhaps one day any of these clubs can play in the I-league or even the ISL, its not that far, just 4 steps and you are the top of the mountain.

Bharati Vidyapeeth, Kothrud.
On a Sunday morning, I saw a young girl, maybe 12 or 13 working out on her own, practicing her moves of Kabaddi.
She was so happy, eager to do better and did not care if anyone watched or saw her practicing alone.
I just went ahead and asked her, Why are you working on a Sunday?
Extra practice helps me get better, my game improves, so a little bit more practice
Tell me about Kabaddi.
I got to know about it last year, I joined here for fitness but then [our] sir stopped coming but my Appa said to play Kabaddi only. My aim is to keep on playing till I can, just play and maybe also have a career.
So, you only play or you manage all things?
No, (smiles), I manage everything.
A short story, but so inspirational, it always is when someone loves what they are doing and enjoying life with a smile.

MCA Stadium.
Wow, what an epic match. The entire nation was celebrating, and Pune was celebrating. Kohli has a wonderful record here, another century to his name. This is not about the India, New Zealand game, this story is about the India v Bangladesh game.
We went to the stadium to look for some stories. We failed because there was such a big crowd eager to go in as they were late due to the traffic outside, but we got hold of these four gentlemen from Chennai.
They travelled all the way from the south to Pune.
“We travelled from Chennai, the travel was good, reached safely here” one of the extreme left said, enthusiastically another one said “We are here to cheer for India and celebrate India’s win against Bangladesh”.
Excited faces, truly looking to enjoy their time in the city. Of course we asked them about the tickets, and whether it was difficult to buy them, “We tried hard, we finally got this one, and this is our first match travelling”
We couldn’t hold them much longer as ten overs had already gone by, but looking at them, it just felt like Cricket is loved everywhere in this country and every fan has a story.

Somewhere along the Pune-Mumbai expressway
The reason for the “sea of blue” in each stadium is because, majority of fans are able to buy the Indian counterfeit jersey from the streets heading to the stadium.
Selling counterfeit jerseys is itself Illegal, but we can’t blame the little guy for earning a living, they are from villages who get a decent amount selling these products because they are not quite good at anything else. And besides, they don’t manufacture it, they perhaps don’t even buy it in wholesale, someone employs them to sell their lot and take commission (although in this case it is a speculation)
We can’t blame the several fans who have already spent huge money to buy tickets and can’t afford rupees 4,999 to buy an original one, instead they opt to buy a 400 rupee one with their favourite player names on the back.
We can’t really sympathise with Adidas for losing on business as they have made the jerseys so damn expensive for the middle class.
So, now that all areas are covered, here’s the story: a street vendor was complaining to his customers which caught our attention, so we asked him what happened?
“There were thirty people, who were trying on the jerseys, and then the police came so I came inside [the lane], till then all of them left without paying.” He said.
We consulted other vendors in the area, all of them confirmed that they had lost the jerseys to unpaying customers.
To rub salt in the wounds of Punekars, the vendor who wanted to remain nameless said, he sells [the jerseys] everywhere, in Kerala and other cities but never has he experienced this anywhere [people always pay].
He also added a very valid point, “You go to malls and they will sell at 3000,5000, without us how will the fans enjoy?”
To validate his point, I personally saw fans happier than ever when they changed their clothes and wore that jersey, they changed in the car, on the side of the road, they just wanted to change quickly.
This story has so many layers of pointing fingers that you can’t really pick a side, so let that be.

- The weakness of Paltan, ft. Sanket Karvate
In our last report we said that Paltan is going for the win, however when you dive deeper, there are some things that need a fix.
Sanket, our co-host on the show Paltan Review, talks about the weak defense. Even if Shadloui was bought for 2.35 Cr, he is an all-rounder and not a defender, like Fazel. PP may neutralise that with their brilliant raiding repertoire.
It’s not a bad defense, for sure, but it is something that will need proper attention as the season progresses.

1) MCA president suggests being at the venue 2 hours before the toss.
2) Follow MCA social media for a guide to the stadium through different routes.
3) Parking Capacity has been increased to 7200 cars + 15k bikes
4) MCA has released the bus schedule for the 5 WC games, check that to avoid traffic.
5) Lastly remember to look for the colored balloons suspended in the air to navigate to your parking area.

In our quest to find the city’s sports culture, we smashed into this little unique story.
Mr.Sagar Khaladkar, a Kabaddi coach with a ‘disability’ due to an accident he met with back in 2013, grooms young Kabaddi players.
He was travelling to a tournament when suddenly the vehicle crashed, he lost both his legs.
He spent the next 8 months in Sahyadri Hospital. We asked him, how did he recover mentally from the injury?
I was so disturbed, the entire house was disturbed, I could only see darkness but I thought it was a bonus life, and I wanted to give my all to my passion and my players.”
“So many people supported me, financially as well and that took away so much burden, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Dr. Patangrao Kadam, they sympathised with me, as I was coaching for free [and maybe due to other things]. And once you have that pressure taken off, then you can focus on your passion”
He adds, “There were of course issues while teaching, so I called some of the players who I had taught, and asked them to do the actions that I couldn’t.”
All his students are doing quite well in local tournaments, some in nationals but he demands more, he feels they can take inspiration from him and do more, he wants to see them in Pro Kabaddi League and Asian Games and has started to work that way as well providing them with professional psychological help and not just physical.
We spoke so much about his passion for sports, I had to ask, why do you think people should play sports, to which his response was amazing.
“Sports teaches you how to deal with a loss”...he later on talks about the benefits in terms of health but let’s not get into that today.
An incredible experience, as it always is to speak with passionate people, but Mr.Sagar is certainly inspiring his students, now we feel his story should inspire Punekars.

Pune fans, are you devasted? Frustrated? Sad? What happened? MCFC will now play its game against Al Hilal in Navi Mumbai. It was first scheduled at Balewadi Stadium. It may feel that this city has been robbed of an incredible opportunity as the Saudi club had players like Neymar, Koulibaly, Milinlovic-Savic and other renowned stars but who should we really be angry on? Can Punekars demand for a better local infrastructure? Can Punekars seek existing clubs and help create an atmosphere? Can Punekars ask themselves, have I actively tried to find a local club to support and if not then is PDFA at fault for not marketing it well? From MCFC's point of view the decision makes sense as they will now be able to sell around 40 thousand tickets instead of 9 and be closer to home but it also raises two vital questions, why wasn't DY Patil the first choice? And would MCFC have shifted the stadium if Mumbai Football Arena (Capacity:6600) was approved?
