, Jan. 10โ€“ Intense gunfire reportedly broke out between security forces and suspected NSCN (K-YA) militants during a search operation to locate two abducted workers in the Longvi village area under Nampong police station, Changlang district.

According to Northeast Live, the clash occurred on Thursday as Assam Rifles personnel combed the area near the Indo-Myanmar border. An Assam Rifles officer reported that one militant likely sustained injuries, as bloodstains were discovered at the encounter site.

The search operation follows the January 6 attack on an illegal timber camp in Longvi by suspected NSCN (K-YA) and ULFA-I militants, during which the camp was set ablaze, equipment was destroyed, and two workers were abducted.

The incident comes just days before the Pangsau Pass International Festival (PPIF), scheduled to take place from January 20 to 22 in Nampong. The event will be inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, accompanied by his cabinet colleagues.

Agriculture and Horticulture minister Gabriel D Wangsu led a delegation of progressive farmers to present the โ€œHarvest of the Monthโ€ to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, showcasing Arunachal's rich horticultural produce and highlighting the challenges faced by the farming community.
The โ€œHarvest of the Monthโ€ initiative, launched in September 2024, promotes seasonal produce and offers farmers a platform to share cultivation challenges and opportunities.
This monthโ€™s showcase included oranges, kiwis, persimmons, walnuts, and large cardamom from various districts.
Farmers raised critical concerns such as premature kiwi harvesting due to market demands, the inability to sell organic produce at premium prices, logistical challenges in transportation, and disease susceptibility in traditional cultivation methods for large cardamom.
They sought government support for setting up nurseries, improving transportation infrastructure, reliable electricity and road connectivity, and better access to Atma Nirbhar bank loans.
Chief Minister Khandu stressed the importance of organized farming and collaboration among farmers to improve market access and tackle challenges collectively.
Highlighting the potential of the agriculture and horticulture sectors, he outlined government efforts to partner with ITBP and the Army to enhance procurement and distribution through the marketing board.

Notice :The recent controversy involving the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Siang District has exposed severe administrative malpractice and betrayal of public trust. The DCโ€™s deliberate misrepresentation of facts to the villagers of Riew and the alleged fraudulent signing of blank documents by the Gaon Burahs (GBs) reflect a blatant disregard for ethical governance. The misuse of authority and suppression of material facts, particularly concerning the deployment of military personnel, have compounded the grievances of the community.

Most distressing is the failure to utilize Rs. 2 crores allocated under the CSR initiative for the renovation and modernization of Riew Primary School. These funds, part of a larger Rs. 16.6 crores meant for district development, remain unspent, depriving the schoolchildren of their right to education and improved facilities. This neglect not only violates the principles of governance but also jeopardizes the future of the children, who are left with inadequate infrastructure and no access to promised smart classrooms.

To mitigate the damage caused by this scandal, it is imperative that the untied funds under the DCโ€™s jurisdiction be immediately directed toward completing the schoolโ€™s renovation as per the CSR Detailed Project Report (DPR). This action would serve as a partial remedy to the breach of trust and help restore the faith of the villagers in the administration. Moreover, transparent utilization of these funds would ensure accountability and uphold the educational rights of the children of Riew. It is time for authorities to prioritize justice and the welfare of the community

TATO, Dec 04: The Judicial Magistrate First Class Court, to be established in Shi-Yomi district for which infrastructure would be set up by the end of February 2025. Special secretary to law has been already informed about the requirement of JMFC court in the district, said DC Liyi Bagra. He was gracing the felicitation programme of various achievers (academic, sports, government service and central service) and others at the inaugural ceremony of Podi-Barbi festival 2024 as chief guest, organised by Boh Ramo Bokar Welfare Society (BRBWS) here on Wednesday accompanied by ADC Tumge Loya and SP SK Thongdok. Achievers including first Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service officer Tayor Jempen, first para military Tayom Pudur, Registrar NiT Rajen Pudur, advocate Bote Yuto, Dr. Tachi Kochung, Dr. Boki Yuto, Dr. Kosen Jida, Dr. Nasi Koje, Dr. Amin Diru, Taya Yabu, Dr. Takar Koje, Mariya Yabu, Jyoti Mane and others were felicitated.
