Celebrating its 61st Raising Day, the largest air base of Indian Navy, INS Hansa has upgraded its infrastructure for ensuring safety of civilian aircraft coming into Dabolim International Airport, which is operated by the Indian Navy.
The instances of flights getting diverted due to poor visibility at airport will reduce as the Indian Navy has upgraded the Instrument Landing Systems of the airport under the Government of India’s MAFI project.
Under the MAFI (Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure) project, Ministry of Defence is modernising 37 airfields of Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, and the Coast Guard.

For most people the martyrdom of a soldier is nothing more than a social media post, a column in a newspaper.
For politicians martyrdom is another cheap gimmick to garner some political mileage.
The pain is only felt by the families the soldiers leave behind guarding our frontiers.
Now about to turn 42, Jitendra Singh, is a security guard by profession, residing in Surat,
he has been writing letters expressing his gratitude to the families of martyrs since the Kargil War in (1999).
Till date he has written over 5,000 letters to martyrs’ families.
He has information and addresses of nearly 38,000 army personnel’s families.

Identify your goal and work hard to achieve it, says Lt Cdr Vartika Joshi, skipper of the all Naval women officers crew of Navika Sagar Parikrama voyage which undertook circumnavigation of globe on sail boat INSV Tarini in 2017-18.
According to Lt Cdr Joshi, lot of time is spent on identifying one's career goal. But once identified, one should not leave any stone unturned to pursue his or her goal.
She also exhorted young girls to take up adventure sports and do outdoor activities.
Navika Sagar Parikrama was a circumnavigation of the globe by female officers of the Indian Navy.
The six-member all-woman team circumnavigated and managed the whole operation in their first ever global journey, on INSV Tarini.
The voyage lasted 254 days, from 10 September 2017 to 21 May 2018, with only 4 port calls, in Fremantle, Australia; Lyttelton, New Zealand; Port Stanley, Falkland Islands; and Cape Town, South Africa, and a forced technical halt at Port Louis, Mauritius, crossing the equator twice and passing through 3 oceans.
The crew was shortlisted after receiving applications for volunteers for the voyage.
The expedition was flagged off by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Goa on 10 September 2017.
The crew comprised:
Lt Cdr Vartika Joshi, also the skipper, from Uttarakhand
Lt Cdr Pratibha Jamwal, from Himachal Pradesh
Lt Cdr Aishwarya Boddapati, from Telangana
Lt Cdr P Swathi, from Andhra Pradesh

In 2015 internationally acclaimed mental health intervention centre started project to help schools create an enabling and inclusive environment for all children and create a model for inclusive education. Hundred percent visually challenged students of Dhempe College Goa Sumera Khan and Saish Salkar have passed their SYBA exam with 90% and 85% respectively. Their major subjects were English, Philosophy and Political Science. Both the students are being supported by National Association for the Blind (NAB) Goa.

Nethrawathi Khanagavi, a young 17-year-old girl currently residing in Dangui Colony , a child, daughter of domestic help, has just cleared her from Higher Secondary School Mapusa in Commerce Stream and cleared it with 79% with her highest score of 90/100 in Hindi, 89/100 in Business Studies & 87/100 in Banking.
Ratna, her mother is illiterate and is raising Nethrawathi and her younger brother who is currently in school.
Nethrewathi wants to pursue her Bachlor’s Degree in Commerce (BCom) from St. Xavier’s College Mapusa, but is in dire need of financial support. The yearly fee of BCom in St. Xavier’s was Rs.6700 until last year. If one adds yearly expenses as Rs 3000 (Books, Stationary, etc) the cost of education comes to Rs. 10000 per year.
