Every season, the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale is the most awaited show, because it brings alive the best of makeup and fashion together on one stage. This season at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week, Ruchika Sachdeva of Bodice took the spotlight as the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale designer.
Her collection named ‘Ready Set Play’ was all about patterns and shapes, with cues taken from
Lakmé ‘s inspiration this season, that good things come in small packages. This season, the
brand’s theme stemmed from the fact that, at a difficult time, the world came together to find joy
and peace in the smallest of things around them, and this concept resonated with the iconic
beauty brand’s latest collection, The Lakmé Absolute Matte Melt Mini Liquid Lipcolor.
The Grand Finale has always been a synchrony of makeup and fashion, and the beauty looks
from the runway with the bright matte hues on the lips, paired perfectly with the Bodice
collection. The outfits had everything from pastels that were inspired by summer like pale pinks,
ice blue, pistachios, white, fresh yellows matched with bright color blockings, much like the
vibrancy of the lip colours.
Showstopper and Lakmé Brand Ambassador, Ananya Panday was sporting a vibrant
pleated skirt and the full sleeved crop top.

The Fashion Design Council of India and Lakme Fashion Week’s joint phygital, seasonless fashion week, slated from March 16-21, 2021 saw Nitin Bal Chauhan showcase his collection titled “Faux-Amis/false friends”.
Titled “Faux-Amis” (fake friend) it is a line inspired by the dark-side of social media. “Being born in an interesting time like today, a whole lot of us stand witness to a tremendous shift that we as a race have gone through. I grew up in a time without internet, when spending time with a friend meant flying paper planes and kites together. As adults we are living in a world where Alexa dims the lights, plays the music and sets the mood for the evening,” says Chauhan.
New-age fabrics that are fluid, sheer and reflect metallic colours have been used to create gowns for modern Indian women. The formal menswear made with the finest Italian suiting fabrics with sharp cuts and immaculate tailoring was introduced. The collection will retail from the flagship store at Mehrauli.

The Fashion Design Council of India and Lakme Fashion Week’s joint phygital, seasonless fashion week, slated from March 16-21, 2021 saw Siddartha Tytler showcase his collection.
“Studio 54” is inspired by the iconic club of the same name where expression, dance and fashion were about the individual. This season, he invented six characters to portray individual aspects of a human being known as the “Tytler Army”.
The styles are a reflection of the 80s with tweaks of today. It’s fun, flirty but yet very bold and defines an individual as he/she wants. The silhouettes consist of structural corsets, bodycon dresses, peasant tops, co-ord sets and track suits for her. For him, we have track suits, structured suits, bomber jackets and printed tee shirts.

INIFD created a grand show at the joint phygital seasonless FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week with the presentation of the 31st batch of two talented GenNext designers with eight garments each on March 17, the first day of the joint fashion week.
Wajahat Rather’s love for crafts and textiles stemmed from his hometown in Kashmir. The work of the famed darners of Kashmir, whose skills were the basis of the collection, was the inspiration for his label ‘Raffughar’. Rahul Dasgupta’s men’s wear line was aimed at the trendy, ethnic dresser who aims to push his fashion sensibilities to stylish limits.
The “Maazi” line by Wajahat Rather recreated memories of the past and brought to centre stage the paisley motif in all its glorious beauty. Wajahat kept his emphasis mainly on the yoke, shoulders, or other strategic parts, to turn them into the focal points of the garments. Rahul Dasgupta’s men’s wear line had a classic appeal but with a marked contemporary touch that will please the sartorial requirements of the stylish Indian man.
