Nabadwip (also spelled Nadia or Nabadip) is a historic city located in the Nadia district of West Bengal, India

*Location*: Situated on the banks of the Ganges River, approximately 100 km north of Kolkata. from Krishnagar and 120 km north from Kolkata, it is associated with birth of Lord Sri. Sri. Chaitanya was not only a religious leader preachingVaishnava ideas and Bhakti cult but also a soci

al reformer in the 16 th Century. The great social reformer and saint Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born here in 1486. Nabadwip Dham was thecapital of Lakshman Sen, the famous ruler of Sen dynasty, who ruled from 1179 to 1203. There are a number of temples and pilgrimage centres. In the During Holi festival and Rash yatra Nabadwip Dham presents itself as a center of harmony, amity, fraternity and festivity. Sonargouranga temple with the golden statue of Sri Chaitanya, is the most important shrine here. There is a profusion of temples, each one worth avisit. Nabadwip Dham remains an important pilgrimage centre in Bengal . Nabadwip Dham is connected by bus and rail service from Kolkata. Mayapur is situated on theopposite of Nabadwip Dham across the river Ganga . The ISKCON temple and some Gaudiya temples are there.
