|| Compendium: Old Walk ||
The film opens with a scene of a room tried to portray very realistically with our protagonist just finishing off some miscellaneous work before he leaves for his outing. The intentionally contoured “Alag Aasmaan” starts to play in the background as soon as he puts on the earbuds. Though this track depicts a long-distance relationship between two lovers, in this film, the whole perspective has been moulded. This comes into observation when a parallel is shown by playing this song and showing the isolated life of our mainstay simultaneously. The array of scenes till he reaches the ice-cream shop brings out the introvertish side of him and how he doesn’t relate much with his generation. He keeps walking whilst being a sharp silent observer. Being very cautious, aware, and fearful of him being judged by others, he quits sitting in a rush and walks away with his strawberry cup. As he leans down to take a bite, he is reminded of his true friends – the real treasure of his life that are now no longer with him in physical proximity. The film now goes into a high-school flashback where he once again cherishes all the moments spent with them. He once again remembers all the abstract ideas of Love, Poetry, Science, and Passion that he once used to discuss - things that were far away from all this-worldliness. He realizes how he left behind his true sense of expression, his love for writing amidst this hustle and bustle. Giving a smile, we get a shot where the film now transits back to the present. As he walks down the corridor, he realizes the lyrics of the song he’s been listening to all this while. He makes a sudden connection with what he was feeling lately and dedicates those lyrics to his compadres. The unworldly mind of our protagonist knows little difference and treats love as “Love” irrespective of whom it’s for. The band-aid is shown as a symbol of memories that he keeps back in his pocket rather than tossing out. He then after connecting the dots, writes down about “Perspective” – the ambiguous nature of what he just experienced. The film ends with a slight grin of satisfaction on the face of our protagonist.
