Fans can purchase points (hyping them) for a video to show their love for it and help other viewers discover it, giving them a stake in their favorite creators' success
Videos with the most points reach the leaderboard. Hyped videos are decorated with the hype badge so they appear special to all viewers. Top fan-hyped videos can also appear in weekly playlists discoverable by other YouTube users.
Here's how it works:
Fans will receive free points each week that they can use to amplify their favorite creators' videos. They can then purchase more points if they'd like to hype their favorite creators further.
The fan-hyped leaderboard will only contain only content published in last 7 days before it resets for the new week.
Creators receive 70% of the revenue from purchased points.
To ensure the leaderboard is fair for smaller creators, smaller creators get a multiplier of points given to tier videos. In other words, their points count for more on the leaderboard.
