The inaugural issue of “The GLC Reporter” is finally out! The Press has rightly been called the “Fourth Estate” in our democracy. It has come to be recognised as one of the important pillars of our democracy, in addition to the traditionally accepted triad of the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary. The role played by the Press in deepening the roots of democracy is too well known to be d
etailed here. “The GLC Reporter” has, in line with great history and traditions of the Indian Press, set for itself an ambitious and challenging agenda to act as the guardian of the interests of the students and to act as a conduit between the students and the authorities concerned. “The GLC Reporter”, a CLiJEO initiative aspires to become the voice of the campus and the student community of our college. We, at “The GLC Reporter” firmly believe that democracy in our campus is imperative and for that to happen, it requires an active participation of the students. Towards the realisation of this aim, we aim to keep the students engaged in a continuous and intensive communication, not just with each other but also with the authorities concerned, by informing, educating and mobilizing them. Thus, our primary focus is to provide an opportunity and a forum for the students and teachers of our campus to voice their opinions and analysis on ideas, ideologies and issues, and thereby provide an arena for a healthy and democratic discourse and discussion which will further the spirit of democracy and informed debate. Towards this end, the editorial board of “The GLC Reporter” have decided to set apart significant space in the wall magazine for giving wide coverage to discussions being held under the aegis of “CLiJEO Discussion Forum” in our college as also the debates and discussions held amongst the students on various social networking sites of which they are a part. The discussions being held in the cyber space have been covered under an attractively and one might add, appropriately titled head “Virtual Battle”. Equally, we, at “The GLC Reporter” propose to give a wide coverage to the latest happenings in the world outside our college, especially the latest happenings in the legal field, of which we are an integral part and one, which we are all interested in tracking closely. Keep an eye out on the section of “The GLC Reporter” where we track the events and happenings in our very own college! The editorial board of “The GLC Reporter” would, at this juncture, like to place on record, our profound appreciation of the whole hearted support extended by the Faculty Co-ordinator of CLiJEO, Shri Thilakanandan, and the CLiJEO Active Servants (CAS) family, in making our dream of publishing a wall magazine come true. Happy Reading!
