লাদাখের পরিবেশ কর্মী সোনম ওয়াংচুক বন্দী রয়েছেন যোধপুর জেলে। দেশদ্রোহীতার অভিযোগ তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে। লাদাখকে রাজ্যের মর্যাদা দেওয়া ও ষষ্ট তপশিলের আওতায় আনার দাবি নিয়ে আন্দোলন চালাচ্ছিলেন ওয়াংচুক। অনশন আন্দোলনের মাঝেই গন্ডগোল শুরু হয়, যার পরিণামে চারজনের মৃত্যু এবং বহু মানুষ আহত হন। ঘটনায় মূল ষড়যন্ত্রকারী দেখিয়ে ওয়াংচুককে গ্রেফতার করে পুলিশ। সুপ্রিম কোর্টে তার মামলার পরবর্তী শুনানি ২৯ শে অক্টোবর

Ladakh environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk is currently imprisoned in Jodhpur Jail on charges of sedition. Wangchuk had been leading a movement demanding statehood for Ladakh and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The protests, which included a hunger strike, turned violent, resulting in four deaths and many injuries. Wangchuk was arrested by the police for allegedly being the mastermind behind the unrest. His case is currently pending in the Supreme Court, with the next hearing scheduled for October 29th.
