The Supreme Court of India quashed down the Gujarat government's decision of early release of the rapists of Bilkis Bano case of the famed 2002 Gujarat genocide (riot). The court said the Maharashtra government could only take the grant of remission as it comes under their jurisdiction where the 11 men were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Since the time Supreme Court has ordered the convicts to surrender, as per the latest report by the SP of Dahod, 9 out of 11 rapists and murderers are missing.
After the overturn of remission by the top court, Bilkis Bano thanked the court for giving hope of equality.

Two people have been arrested from Telangana and Gujarat for sending threatening e-mails to the Reliance Industries chairman, Mukesh Ambani.
Ganesh Ramesh Vanaparthi was arrested from the Telangana state and the other accused was arrested from Gujarat by the Mumbai police. The e-mail ID from which threat was sent as [email protected] and one from accused Ganesh's e-mail. They had demanded 400 crores or would kill the business tycoon.
The case has been registered for an attempt to extortion by threatening death or grievous hurt (Section 387 of IPC) and criminal intimidation (Section 506-2 of IPC) at Mumbai's Gamdevi police station.
