The Potato Blight of the mid-19th century devastated Ireland, leading to the Great Famine and the loss of millions of lives.
The disease-causing pathogen Phytophthora infestans still exists. But, the farmers need not worry anymore.
A Team at IIT Mandi has developed an R-CNN-based solution to detect the disease in the crops at the earliest.

IIT mandi develops a deep learning model to detect potato blight. The research featured recently in the journal plant phenomics. Mr. Joe Johnson who is the leader author of the paper discusses about some key elements of the research.
