The 3-day event of the Bangla Sahitya Sabha concluded yesterday with the presence of Dr. Smriti Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor of Pragjyotishpur University and President of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Sabha. During the closing ceremony, Dr. Sinha delivered a thought provoking lecture on literature, focusing on the Barak Valley and the global reach of short stories through his acclaimed works Seducing the Rain God and Freedom Lost in Rights.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Minister Kaushik Rai along with MP Parimal Suklabaidya, Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, Mihir Kanti Shome, Nihar Ranjan Das, General Secretary of the Bengla Sahitya Sabha Prashant Chakraborty and Reception Committee President Nihar Ranjan Pal, among others.

Subhasish Sinha, a renowned writer and pioneer of Bishnupriya Manipuri Theatre in Bangladesh, has been conferred the prestigious “Bangla Academy Literary Award.” The award will be presented during the opening ceremony of the “Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025,” organized by Bangla Academy, an Autonomous Body funded by the Government of Bengladesh. The Honorable Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Dr. Mahamud Younus will present the award during the event.
