Bhimbor Deori (1903–1947) was a tribal leader, nationalist, and social reformer from Assam, India. Born on May 16, 1903, he fought for the rights of local tribes and ensured Assam stayed part of India during the Partition.

Bhimbor Deori worked for tribal rights, asking for land ownership (land pattas) and primary education.
He started the Assam Backward Plains Tribal League in 1933 to represent tribal people.
Resisting British Rule:

He opposed British plans to merge Assam with Pakistan and helped keep it as part of India.
Role in Independence:

Bhimbor Deori worked with Gopinath Bordoloi, Assam’s first Chief Minister, to stop Assam from joining East Pakistan.
People called him "Jananeta" (people’s leader) for his courage and wisdom.
Social and Political Reforms:

As a member of the Legislative Council, he supported the rights of tribal and poor communities.
He promoted unity and independence among ethnic groups through the Khasi Darbar Hall Resolutions of 1945.

Bhimbor Deori passed away on November 30, 1947. His efforts continue to inspire movements for justice and equality in Assam. Events like his 77th death anniversary in 2024 honor his memory and contributions.
