**Breaking News*: Congress to Support Omar Abdullah Government from Outside**

In a surprising move, the Congress party has decided not to join the newly-formed Jammu and Kashmir government led by Chief Minister-elect Omar Abdullah. Instead, Congress will provide outside support after declining a ministerial position within the coalition. This decision follows the party's disappointing performance in the recent elections, where it secured only six seats out of 90, compared to the National Conference's 42 seats.

Despite this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary Priyanka Vadra Gandhi will attend the swearing-in ceremony, which is set to see Abdullah take the oath of office alongside eight ministers—the maximum permitted.

The National Conference's significant electoral victory has positioned it as the dominant force in the region, overshadowing Congress's expectations of a stronger showing. The party’s alliance with the NC, alongside support from four independents and a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, has solidified Abdullah's position as J&K's first elected Chief Minister in a decade.

This shift comes amid increasing scrutiny of the INDIA bloc’s ability to maintain harmony among its regional partners, particularly following setbacks in recent elections. Sources(NDTV)
