Udhampur Police destroys 1.4 ton of physcotrophic substance seized in 20 different cases*

District Drug destruction committee headed by SSP Udhampur Sh. Joginder Singh-JKPS and comprising of Addl. SP Udhampur Sh. Anwar Ul Haq-JKPS, SDPO Chenani Sh. Tahir Amin Sheikh and Sh. Darshan Singh Sr. PO Udhampur, conducted the destruction of physcotrophic substance today.This consignment was seized in 20 different NDPS cases registered in District Udhampur. The destruction was done through incineration in M/S Anmol Healthcare Rakh Rara, Swankha Morh, Vijaypur, Samba.

During incineration 1387.830 kgs of poppy straw and 11.35 gms of Heroine has been incinerated by following all the codal formalities. The destruction was carried out by incineration in a controlled manner as provided under rules to avoid any harm to the environment.

In the entire process was completed in presence of EMIC Sh. Mohd. Saleem (NT Roun) and Sh. Deepak Abrol Divisional Officer JKPCC Samba (south).Before this the seized contraband was checked, weighted and tallied with the record. The entire proceedings,right from godown upto incinerator was duly videographed and kept under proper security.
Pertinently this huge quantity of the seized contraband substance has been destroyed under section 52-A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

Before this, On 31st May 2023, 1500 kg of Narcotics and psychotropic substances and on 22nd July 2023, 771 kg 934 grams of Narcotics and psychotropic substances were incinerated by Jammu and Kashmir Police District Udhampur.

SSP Udhampur visits Ramnagar; interacts with students/prominent citizens and also addresses darbar of officers & Jawans.

Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur Sh. Joginder Singh-JKPS visited Government Higher Secondary School Ramnagar and held interaction with students. The interaction was a step towards nurturing their dreams and providing them with the necessary guidance and support to achieve their goals.

The focus of these discussions was to instill a sense of confidence and determination in the students, encouraging them to believe in their potential and work towards realizing their dreams.
Students were also made aware about drug abuse and its harmful effects. The staff members of school were also briefed about their role and responsibility to protect the students from drug addiction and to detect early warning signs of drug abuse.

The students were also briefed about career building, obey the traffic rules and being law abiding. They were also advised to make their future career bright instead of indulging in drug abuse.

Thereafter, SSP Udhampur presided over an impressive police - public meet at Ramnagar in which SDPO Sh Vishal Manhas and SHO Insp Sohan Singh along a large number of prominent citizens/youths/general public were present. By and large People expressed satisfaction with the working of Police in Ramnagar,however, some participants also put forth their grievances/suggestions for betterment and welfare of the public of the area. They raised issues like traffic congestion in Ramnagar town, menace of drugs, distillation and sale of illicit liquor in far –off areas and demanded regular patrols, surveillance to check eve-teasing.

Later, SSP Udhampur also conducted Darbar at police Station Ramnagar, during darbar a number of officers/ Jawans put-forth their personal/ collective grievances. SSP listen to the grievance of officials patiently and assured them that their genuine grievance will be redressed on merits.He advised them to take care of their health by doing regular exercise and taking healthy and hygienic diet. He also briefed the nafri and directed them to exhibit honesty, integrity & credibility while serving the people.

*Narco Smuggler Arrested in Udhampur; Poppy straw recovered*

A Police team from Police Station Udhampur led by SHO Insp. Raghubir Choudhary, during routine checking at Jakhani, NHW recovered 13.180 Kg Poppy straw like substance from a vehicle (03 wheeler goods carrier) bearing Registeration No JK02CW 3872, one narco smuggler has been arrested.

The arrested person (driver) was identified as Gurmeet Singh S/O Ajit Singh R/O Kotli Shah, Dullah, R.S Pura, District Jammu.

In this connection, A case FIR No. 605/2023 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case has been taken up.
